i was thinking about going with some Project X shafts in my irons and I was wondering if this was something I could install myself? I have never done this before but wouldn't mind learning how so I can do all my own stuff at the house as a hobby. Should this be an issue? Anyone have any good links for this process?

Also, what would be the basic setup as far as tools or equipment is concerned?

First off, I have never done club work so please don't take my word as set in stone, I'm just learning and starting also.

To pull the shafts you'll need a shaft puller. You possibly will need new grips because you might have to cut your old ones off to get any epoxy rattling around in the shaft. Of course you will need the shafts, and an epoxy kit. I think that is pretty much all you need, but please don't buy anything till someone who has done this before chimes in.

Don't worry, I will research it thoroughly before buying anything. As far as the grips go, I think I will just put new grips on but might try to save these. Thanks for the info

Just to change shafts you will need.
A bench vise
Rubber pads to hold the shaft in the vise
Heat gun or torch - to heat and loosen epoxy bond.
A good glove to grab the head and twist off while still hot.
If changing steel shafts only no shaft puller is needed, but required if pulling graphite shafts.
A wire brush or equivalent to remove cured epoxy from the heads.
A good shaft cutter
A 48” ruler to measure shaft length
A ferrule installation tool to make that easyer.
Ferrule’s
A good 24 hour cure shafting epoxy
Grips, grip tape and solvent.

Acetone to finish the ferrule to the hosel fit- Not needed but makes the install look better

All this can be found at golfworks.com along with basic instructions for re-shafting.

      let me check, I think my volleyball tournament is on 6/21, and we are just driving up and back the same day. I may be masochistic enough to then to play golf on Sunday (6/22). 🤣. 6/21 is 100% out for me.

      Thank you for sharing that. He was quite good wasn't he? I was curious, so took a look. He played 19 PGA Tour stroke play events in 2000. He was 263 under par (they did point that out at the end of the video). If you look at each event he played in and take the best score in each event for a player not called Tiger Woods, that combined field score was -259. So he beat the field - where the field resets every week - over the course of an entire season. That's mind blowing.

      If they have the same handicap it doesn't matter what you take 35% and 15% of. If you have two low handicaps, averaging them is generally unwise as I said in my first response: a scratch and an 18 would get 9 strokes, which is silly given that one of the players is scratch.

      Thank you iacas! Interesting take on 35% on Lower Hdcp and 15% on higher Hdcp. Two questions. Why did you choose 35% & 15%? What would I do with tied Hdcp? Right now I'm just adding the two Hdcp. and dividing by 2. We have just 2 golfers with a low Hdcp. The other 10 golfers are very similar. With what I'm doing now, the highest Hdcp. difference, in a match, is 8 once and 7 twice, Again, Thank you very much!

      Depends on a few things but typically a 60* or 54*.    Currently, pitching is the worst part of my game right now....more so the longer pitch shots.   Its either shank city or I get it on the green but nowhere close to the hole.    Now that courses and ranges are finally starting to open, I will be hoping to revamp that part of my game.   Will start with the vids that Iacas posted above.
