right now i have an Adamsgolf Insight 10.5 loft driver with an R shaft, and i have had the for 2 years

at my home course which i play a lot ans is very easy my handicap is 6-8. and a average drive for me is about 280.

ive talked to a guy that works at my nearest golf store and he said that i defiently need to Stiff shaft

should i just buy a new driver? would it be worth 300 dollars for a new driver or just get a new shaft?

thanks guys

I am in a similar situation. Everyone I play with tells me i need stiff. I know my swing speed requires stiff but I am yet to fork up the dough to get a new shaft, I was concidering a new driver just because they have such great deals on them.

A playing partner recently bought a new driver, went form reg to stiff. His drives went from 260-270 slice to 280-300 strait. He didn't even hit range since the switch strait to the course. That just about sold me on making the switch, one way or another

If you like your Adams, try the new Adams 9032. It's right around your budget of $300. If you want to go cheaper, you might want to look at Adams Speedline or the Ping G10. If you decide to re-shaft, look at some of the cheaper options like a UST Proforce V2 stiff shaft which seems to be very popular. The best bet would be to get fit so you won't have any second thoughts after making the purchase.

I just got a new shaft put on my driver the other day and I had a regular shaft and went to a stiff shaft. It made a huge difference, I was driving the ball farther and straighter. And it only cost me 40 bucks.

if you hit your driver 280 already, why change? thats PLENTY long. or are you spraying it all over the place?
however, if you are hell-bent on upgrading something, i would just get the stiffer shaft if you are sure you need it. it sounds like you are doing just fine with what you already have

well im not hitting it dead straight by any means, i have been slicing but i realized my wrist hinge was why that was happening and now most are going straight with a little draw but not i seem to be getting some hooks in there

he told you that cause he wanted to sell you something. the stiffness of the shaft, contrary to popular belief, doesn't really have much at all to do with trajectory. it's the torque of the shaft you should be more concerned with. if you've got a swing speed above 115 you'd want one below 3*, if it's not that fast then i wouldn't really worry about it. imho, you really don't need a new driver at all. i hit a r5 that's about 5 years old and it goes just as far as the brand new nike. although, i do like the ping g5, it just feels right. but in all honesty, getting new equipment only boosts your confidence, nothing more.

hey i went in to get a new shaft and the guy said i might as well just buy a new driver and he showed my the nike dynamo and the newest version of the burner and they were both only 200$ so i ended up getting the burner.

so instead of getting 125$ stiff shaft

i got a 3 year newer driver with a stiff shaft for 200$

    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
