People do weird things. Sometimes it translates into golf, as it's always on our minds. Sometimes you get bored of the same old thing. Anyone else do odd things/drills that help your game? Here are some of my favorites:

----I putt left handed, I'm a righty ( while I sink almost everything under 10-12 feet, my lagging lacks lefty)

--I go mini-golfing to keep my putting fresh. Then I come back and only have to worry about speed and break, not bank shots, bridges, and windmills ( I know, Happy Gilmore).

--I chip/pitch coins off of carpet, helps keep me precise.

--I putt on concrete/asphalt (don't use new balls!!)

--I swing while standing on a skateboard on concrete for balance and tempo.

--For positive and negative resistance, I swing an old club in the 4 foot end of my pool. Good for balance too.

Obviously in conjunction with conventional practice.

Anyone else do weird things that work??

I stand on a 4x4 to make sure my balance doesn't move forward or backwards

Hey Birdistheword, these are some great practicing aids. I really like the pool practice aid. It requires you to have a smooth tempo to glide through the water. One thing that I do is putt on the kitchen floor or linoleum floor the night before I play a course with really fast greens. Back when I was playing junior golf, I used to play a course called Bayonet and Black Horse. Their greens are some of the fastest that i've ever putted on. Putting in the kitchen really allowed me to work on fast and downhill putts.

I'm stealin' it

Been playing just a few months but I play almost every day.

What's in my bag: Distance Master Driver, Maltby Trouble Out woods/hybrids, Maltby KE4 Irons (all assembled by me so I can never blame my equipment).

Might wanna take a wider stance than normal, and slow your swing down. Don't end up on your back foot, or you might end up on your back end...

    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
