skipping around an empty golf course

I do this all the time when its raining or crappy weather and no one is out.

Once me and another guy were the only 2 people on the course and were walking from tee to tee screwing around and we decided to play 2-ball best ball against each other, and who ever won the last whole got to pick the next tee. was probably the most fun Ive ever had golfing.

Great idea. My boss and I usually play 9 while my daughter has her lesson once a week, and it's so late we usually have the front all to ourselves. looks like a good way to change it up some.

The only problem I think you would have would be if you paid for a certian amount of holes. If you payed a 9 hole rate them replayed a bunch holes and ended up playing 15 holes, they might have a problem with that. If it is a twilight rate, or a daily unlimited fee, the course probably wouldn't care at all as long as you use good judgement and don't get in anyone's way or hold up play.

Growing up the course I was a member at had 3, 3 hole triangles that all started and ended at the clubhouse. Many times we would just play whatever was open at the time. Play 4-5-6, then 1-2-3, then 1-2-3 again, then 7-8-9. However we could get around in the lowest amount of time.

being a 9 hole course they don't have marshalls during the wee hours of the morning or in the evening. In all honesty, the layout of the course and the fact that I walk, they wouldn't know how many holes I played.

wow... is it that difficult to ask the guys in the proshop? id think the worst they can do is tell you no...

i mean if you think it isnt a big deal... why even start a thread about it? its not a big deal so just do it... instead of talking to the guys who have the authority to let you skip around on their course... youre asking ppl on an internet forum that probably have never even been to that course... seems to me youve already made up your mind that its not a big deal

thank you for the well informed opinion. I know the people at the club house, I spoke to the assistant manager and I kind of beat around the bush and he pretty much said it wouldn't be a problem.

I was more asking for an etiquette problem. It is similar if a salesmen at a certain store will negotiate about pricing. If you ask and its widely known they don't negotiate then it becomes an embarrising situation. On the other hand if you don't ask, and they do negotiate you end up paying more then you could have. It never hurts to ask. Sure in reality I need to ask the people behind the counter, but I was curious to know what the etiquette was on something like that.

imo as far as ettiquette goes...
on a crowded course its a no-no... unless youre skipping holes to get around a group that wont let you play thru...
on an empty course as long as you leave the course as you found it there shouldnt be a problem... (unless its not allowed by the course)
its always better to be safe than sorry
