For those wondering where Dan went, visit this thread . Suffice to say Dan's input on Michelle Wie is no longer welcome in this thread, and anyone mentioning Michelle Wie is treading on thin ice. Start a different thread if you still have something to say about her.

Since this is the "John Deere Classic" thread and since there are no girls left in the field, the question becomes: who will win? Thanks to Cody for trying to push it that way a few posts back...

I was rooting for Zach Johnson. Then Joe Ogilvie. Now, frankly, I don't care who wins. Senden, Slocum, Sheehan, Cejka? Dude, any time Steve Jones is on the leaderboard my interest plummets, U.S. Open included.

Can Ogilvie come from four back? Maybe. Unlikely.

At least Bill Haas is having a decent tournament, and Jason Gore.

We did kinda "lose the bubble" on this thread, didn't we?

Don't really care much who really wins either. I'll probably watch more LPGA than PGA today, or maybe even the celebrity hacks in Tahoe.

I don't think Senden's holding that lead. He fired off a 64 yesterday, I see something closer to par today. That'll bring the Slocums and Chopras of the world back into it. Woo. Hoo.

I like Ogilvie. It'll be cool to have an Ogilvie and an Ogilvy as tour winners this year. If only there was a Jim Ogalvee and a John Ogelvea on tour too.

I'm a whole lot more interested to see if Natalie Gulbis can win her first LPGA event. I almost went to the tournament today, too, but the wife decided it was too hot for our 3.5-year-old.

I don't know... she's got some heavy hitters nipping at her heels. Creamer, Pak... even Sorenstam's in play if she goes 64 or 65 today. I'm hoping she does it though... at least then she can shake the Kournikova comparisons.

PS: I might be wrong about Senden folding today. He's -2 through 2 holes today. Jeez.

Looks like John Senden pulled it off. A good win for him; now I need to see what he looks like, because I've never heard of him.

The Aussies continue to do well on the PGA Tour this year; comparisons to the Koreans on the LPGA?

Right now Natalie "Don't call me Anna K" Gulbis is in the lead. Let's see if she can hold on....

...I would like to see a comparison how many sponsors exemptions have been given to Wie vs Woods when he was sixteen.

From a article published on Yahoo sports:

"... And for those keeping score, it took Woods awhile, too. He played seven events before he made his first cut, and was 19 when he did it. "She's better than Tiger was at 16,'' said Joe Ogilvie, the second-round leader at the Deere Classic. "I played with Tiger, and Tiger wasn't this good"...." I wonder if people were bitching and whining about sponsors "wasting the playing spots" by giving the exemption to some Tiger kid. Here is the link to the whole article: http://sports.yahoo.golfserv.com/gdc...YAHOO&id;=40242 I love the title - "Wie critics just don't get it". I think it's right on the nose

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
