No specific club I'm having problems with, I just always hit the ground before I hit the ball on any club. Any drills that'll help you with this?

Any time I'm having trouble with ballstriking, I got to the chipping green. If you can get the feel of hitting slightly down on the ball and hitting the ball first on a chip, then it's not too hard for me to go the range and transfer it out to a half swing, 3/4 swing, then a full swing.

What's in my Sun Mountain C-130 bag:

Driver - Taylormade Superfast 2.0 TP 10.5
3 Wood - Taylormade Burner 15* REAX
Hybrid - Adams Idea Pro 18* GD YSQ-HL

Irons - Callaway X-18 4-PW

GW - Cleveland 588 51*

SW - Cleveland CG 12 56*

LW - Cleveland CG15 60*

Putter - Cameron Studio Style Newport 2

Best drill, IMO, is the towel drill. Go to the driving range. Bring an old towel.

Go to the furthest right hitting area at the range - at the furthest right stall you will have your back to everyone else there - so you won't have to see them swing - and you can zone them out and work on your drills.

Place the towel on the ground several inches behind the ball. Work on hitting the ball without hitting the towel. The feedback for hitting the towel is immediate. Focus everything you know about a good golf swing into every attempt. Eventually you will learn to hit down on the ball.

That sounds like an awesome drill. I'm a picker not a divot maker and i think a drill like this will do wonders for my mid-long iron shots. Now, why didn't I think of that before?...ha ha

Thanks

you basically hit them fat... the fix really all depends on your swing...

are you dipping? where is the ball in your stance? are your knees too flexed? are you bending too much at the waist? standing too close to the ball? do you lunge at it? try different ball positions... if youre taking too big a divot... adjust your stance and posture

    • Day 121: did a bit of mirror work with my driver. Working on shortening the backswing.
    • Day 305 - Grip and backswing work. Full swings were bothering the hip a bit.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
