I just bought a 909 d3 with the titleist matrix ozik xcon 6 shaft. How does that compare to the stock voodoo and diamana shafts?

I've heard that some people say the voodoo causes ballooning shots... and I heard in a different golf forum that the stock diamana shaft is a titleist shaft, not a mitsubishi shaft, with the "diamana" logo on it to make it seem its made by mitsubishi when its really not. But.... I don't really hear about the matrix ozik shafts. With all the misconceptions I've heard about the voodoo and the diamana it made me skeptical to get one of those, so I settled with the matrix. Has anyone tried out the shaft and/or does anyone have a 909 driver with the matrix shaft in it?

Thanks

Thanks, that helps. Anyone gaming the matrix shaft in their driver?

Yes I have the 909D3 with a Matrix XCON6. I like it but I've considered putting a AXIVCore Blue or Black in it just to try out since I've hear good things about it.

Just to clarify, the "for Titleist" versions of the shafts are not fakes and are also not Titleist shafts with another name on them. While they aren't fakes, they are not the "real" deal either. Usually the difference is that the shaft is a little lighter and has a higher torque. I don't think the average player could tell a difference and I'm sure not paying $300 for an "exotic" shaft that I won't hit any better than the "made for Titleist" one.

None of them are the same as the "real" aftermarket versions but they are pretty close. They all are made by the actual vendor (Mitsubishi, Aldila, Matrix) but are made to try and fit the general public and supposedly specificially designed for the 909 heads. My clubfitting guy said that the "made for" matrix and the "actual" matrix are made from different materials which is why there's such a cost difference.

As to whether it's a good shaft or not it totally depends on your swing. You may well test out perfectly on a stock shaft and you may not. Get fitted on a launch monitor and see what specs out the best for you. FWIW, i have 2 buddies that are gaming the same driver as you and love it. Hopefully it works out well for you.

I'm playing the 909 D Comp with the matrix ozik shaft and honestly I have a love/hate relationship with it. I'm sure most people have this feeling with their driver but when I'm swinging it good I couldn't ask or anything more, but at other times I hate it.

But regarding your question -- the shaft seems like a solid shaft and I wouldn't change it or go with any other stock Titleist shaft.

I have the Voodoo shaft in mine, and it does not balloon on me. It has a lower, piercing ball flight, which I like.
