I played the Ocean Course on Kiawah for the first time this past Monday. I went out as a single with a caddy. I teed of at noon and the last group that teed off in front of me went out @ 9:00am. I had the entire course to myself.

The Ocean Course is amazing and it jumped right into my top 5 courses of all time. Every hole is awesome and challenging. Having a caddy saved me at least 10 shots.

It was a great day!

I recently met some members there who obviously love the Ocean Course, but prefer the River Course there. Hope to play someday.

Just played it as well. It was worth every penny. One of the most beautiful and challenging coursed I have ever played.

Per the caddie, I should have sprung for him, I was just telling someone that it would have saved my at least 5-7 strokes.

I highly recommend playing it if you get a chance

use to work a lot at Kiawah Island, (did constrution) have seen all the courses there, i think theres 4 maybe 5 never played it, but i must say very well designed and is on my list to play well worth the money, cant wait for the 2012 PGA, and im hoping the ryder cup will come back would be awsome

I haven't gotten a chance to play it but I use their range quite often. Fortunately I work for Kiawah so price really isn't an issue, I'll get out there soon I hope.

I have certainly played tougher courses, so I think the slope is just hype for Kiawah development partners. That said, the Ocean Course is a great course. probably in the top 50 I have played.

What's the course in Arizona (I think) the Mickelson joined? I thought the slope was a little higher than that.

I've played Kiawah on Tiger Woods Golf. Does that count?

      First round at Quail Ridge: 47 + 47 = 94 *Note: It was 25+ mph winds with gust in the 35+ mph. It was also around 58 degrees. I felt like I was out in Oregon. The greens were very firm.  Driver was decent. It didn't cause me an issues.  Irons were the biggest issue. Just low point control was lacking. Mostly on the chunky side. Also, my irons were routinely 20-30 yards shorter than normal. Even on holes with a cross wind, the ball was just dying. We played an extra 9 holes after the first 18, and the wind died down by then. I stepped into a 9 iron, and it came up 15 yards short. I have no clue what is going on. I should not be hitting 9 irons 140 yards when I am hitting my driver 300 to 310 yards.  Warmup didn't give me much confidence. I just kept shanking every other iron shot. I didn't shank an iron during the round. I just felt all out of sorts today. Coordinate felt off.  yea, I have no idea if I am purposely slowing down my swing to feel my downswing piece. Again, I hit a decent 9 iron and lost 15 yards of carry. I hope this is just an off day.

      Day 565 - 2026-04-19 Wanted to get home to do some spring cleaning type stuff, so I practiced for about seven or eight minutes and got my butt home. Just backswing stuff, mostly, with freezers and a little downswing feel. Liking the new big mirror I have.
