I just picked up 2 MacGregor MT Pro in Gunmetal finish ( http://www.golfsmith.com/products/MG...dge_-_Gunmetal ). A 52/8 and a 60/8.

I also just picked up a Snake Eyes 685BX in black finish ( http://www.golfsmith.com/products/CC...nake_Eyes_Grip ). A 56/14 in that one.

The MacGregor's were buy 1 get 1 free in the store, so each one was only $49.50.

The Snake Eyes was only $69.99 in store. But if you are adept at clubmaking (which I am not), you can buy the components for the Snake Eyes and make the club yourself with the exact shaft and grip that you want. Depending on your desired specs, it might come in less, equal, or more than the $70 assembled, but it would of course be custom.

I used all three this weekend when I played a round and so far, so good - especially for the prices.

The MacGregor MT Pro wedges or Adams Tom Watson PVD wedges will be the best bang for the buck. If you'd like more of a premium wedge, you might want to look at some used wedges.

My favorites are Cleveland, Titleist and Mizuno to name a few, there are alot of good wedges out there. From my personal experience, wedges should be fitted for lie angle and length like you irons, especially if you use them for full shots. Also make sure you get the correct bounce for your course conditions.

I'm not a big fan of used wedges because many of the trade-ins are when they're worn out, especially the sand wedge. I think you're better off buying a "new" lower priced wedge than a used premium wedge.

I've recently got a 52 and 60 used vokey off ebay for $100 combined. Both used but I'd say they were both an 8 overall or higher.

The Adams Tom Watson wedges are a really good deal. You can find a 52/56/60 set for around $100 or less at a lot of places. They are nice wedges and hard to beat for the price. Watson himself plays at least one of them and since he's among the best wedge players in history (no one has every scrambled any better than him), I'm inclined to think they must be OK. I friend of mine plays them and likes them a lot.

+1 on the Snake Eyes wedges, I would never have believed this until I tried a friends wedge. I game 2 of them now, a 56 & a 60 and they replaced a 58* Vokey in my bag.

I actually bought a Vokey for 20 bucks used. Sure, it had scuff marks, beat up grip, and a quarter sized wear mark on the face. BUT, that thing was very very sweet and spun the ball like a mad hamster in a rolly ball. In fact its back in my bag. If used is not an option, I saw that there is a pretty inexpensive Nike tour wedge on rockbottom...no experience with those, but my buddy swears by em.

Good post. This is true, you should go with this deal FOR SURE. You get THREE wedges for the price of ONE. It's a no brainer IMO.

You can get Vokey Titleists for pretty cheap now actually, check craigslist some people sell a set of three used for 50-65 bucks.. at least around me they may not be the new spinned mill ones but the old ones are still very nice wedges to have

I'd go with some used titleist vokey's you can find them in globalgolf.com for like 50 bucks a piece..

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
