I am a law student at Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware and I am starting a student organization to combine golf and networking. The goal will be for current law students to meet and play with attorneys in order to gain a better understanding of how life is as a practicing attorney. At the same time, attorneys will be able to interact with bright up and coming law students who could be their next new associate.

The backdrop of golf is a perfect environment for networking. I am open to any suggestions as to how to make this process as efficient as possible. If you are interested in pairing up with current law students or playing in one of our outings please let me know!! Thanks in advance.

How do you like law school?

How busy are you? Do you still find some time to hit the range and course?

The firm I am at right now is pretty cool. The partners like golf and sports a lot so they tell me that if I ever want time off to go play a qualifier that I can have it. It is unusual to find that though so I am lucky.

1L is a completely different experience than college. Hated it.
2L is just a mess considering the job market right now.
3L, well, I'm dumb and took a ton of hard classes but whatever.

Busy, ha. Yes. Lots and lots of reading, outlining, studying, outlining more, reading more, then one huge test to see if I know more than the other 14-140 brilliant people in the room. Ya, it's ... fun? Seriously though, G'town is pretty cool compared to a lot of other schools I looked at.

I find it funny that you ask about being busy. I hope you don't take this as rude but my sister is an attorney and so is her husband. I am a high school teacher. Their 9 year son recently stayed with me for a few days and we played golf everyday. He went home and complained to his parents that his uncle took him golfing everyday and all they do is "sit around on their fat asses!" My sister has called me on several occassions to ask me about how she can become a teacher because she never sees her kids due to all the work she has. He husband makes ALOT of money but is out of town 3 days a week.
Oh well, at least they have a Mercedes Benz 500 something or other.

First year of law school left little time for golf during the academic year. I was able to get to the range once a week in the fall up until October when the work load picked up. In the spring, I was able to get out to play at 3 or 4 during the late winter when virtrually no one was out on the course which was excellent practice.

If the law school you attend, or hope to attend, does not have a student organization like this, start it yourself. That's what I did!

Ironic. I did Teach for America for two years and taught middle school in Watts. Funny that she wants to go from law to teaching and I went from teaching to law.
