Hybrid Question

What exactly are Hybrids suppose to do? Are they suppose to be their own thing, or are they suppose to take the place of your 3W and 5Ws?

They're desinged to replace your long irons, usually 2 3 and 4, sometimes up to 5. If you are looking at getting hybrids, they're great if you struggle with the longer irons. However, if you are a good long iron hitter, like I am, you'll hit straighter and farther with regular irons.

The are a crossover between wood/iron. They are supposed to offer the distance gain of a wood and the accuracy of an iron.

They have shorter shafts and smaller heads the woods but also have longer shafts and more mass then an iron.

I have a 21* Bobby Jones that is my go-to club for anything over 200 yards. For the most part I know that I will not reach a 250 yard approach but this club when I strike it well will leave me about 20-30 yards out for an easy up and down.

So could I replace my 3 wood with a hybrid? I have a hybrid and 19°. But would it take place of my 3 iron or my 5 wood?

Well, that depends. Do you have trouble hitting your 3 iron? If not, then don't bother. You'll have more accuracy with an iron than a hybrid.

I don't have a 3 iron I have a 4 iron lol

most would consider a 19* hybrid a replacement for a 5 wood although the 5 would would most likely go farther because it has a longer shaft than the hybrid. the hybrid is more versatile though. i have a 19* hybrid and a 19* 5 wood. i don't carry the 5 wood anymore because i never used it after i got the hybrid even though i can probably hit the 5 wood a little farther. the hybrid is much easier to hit.

19* hybrid is closer to a 5 wood and a 2 iron than it is a 3 iron. a hybrid will also go a little farther than the iron it replaces due to the longer and lighter shaft. that is if you use steel shafts in your irons.
