Interesting Putter

At work today one of my employees came up to me and asked me if I was golfing this weekend. I replied yes, and she then said she had something for me to try. Apparently her husband who is retired now, has made a putter and has made replicas of it and sold them around the city. Not only that, but the putter has supposedly been approved.

Now out of curiousity, does anyone know whats involved in getting a club approved by USGA for use?

Regardless I'm going to try the putter out because curiousity has me now ( especially since the only way she could describe it was "weird looking" )

It just got me more thinking about what exactly is involved in getted a putter approved, and also if many other people have come across anything similar ( homemade clubs )

Thread is useless without pictures! Let us know when you get pictures up. In order to get it approved, you would have to send it into USGA.

i have seen some pretty weird putter designs. Does anybody know what you can't do on a putter? I assume you can't have any moving parts, like you couldn't put ball bearings on the bottom of it (could you?)

putters very in weight, material, design, etc.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

Ive seen a putter that had the hosel on the opposite end. You putted with it with the toe facing you.
