Question about a hook/draw

For many years I battled a slice but after practicing I got rid of the slice and for the past 2 years have a draw and sometimes hook on my irons (RH). I always thought a draw was from having the face closed at impact but I was proven wrong this past weekend. I teed off with a 3 and used a white tee (very rare I usually use natural) I hit a beautiful shot to the right side of the fairway with a slight draw so that it would come back to the middle which it did. After the shot I looked at the bottom of my club and the tee mark showed that the club face was open! So my question is if the club face was open how did I draw the ball?

I agree, you simply swung inside to outside

a baseball type swing if thats possible

Inside to out swing with a clubface that is closed to the swing path, not the target line, will result in the shot you hit.

Thanks for the answers. All of them make since. I have a flat swing that looks like a baseball swing (probably because I always played baseball when I was younger) so I know what I need to work on this winter.

The closed clubface from an inside to out swing plane will put left spin on the ball causing it to start right and fade to the left.

I've played a lot of golf and feel silly for not knowing this, but what does a tee mark look like and how does it tell you whether your face was open or closed?
