Here is an ad for an annual scramble event local to me, $10,000 1st place. Its been going on for a couple of years but I haven't seen anything yet indicating a repeat for this year.

All this talk and Im ready to play in a tourney. These are a lot of fun. My dad and I usually play in one for the local dance studio, since our buddies daughter dances. Its 75 to enter and we probably put in 200 each on raffle tickets. They have excellent prizes every year and the winning team usually gets a nice set of wedges. No cash prizes, but lots of nice shirts, memorbelia (sp?), and fan fare for everyone.

This one is 400 per team and they are usually full at 36 teams. Then they have the auction, etc...to raise more money. It is a good one. I normally don't like scrambles because most of the ones in my area are 2-day and that brings out your big sandbaggers and I can't stand that. The one tomorrow, you better go as low as you can. We shoot in the championship flight on an average day so we always go as low as possible.

I talked to my buddy (he is on the team to beat) and he said that we have NO chance of beating them!!! I would get just as much enjoyment out of beating them as I would winning the entire thing! They have a stacked team, don't get me wrong. But our long ball hitter can outdrive any of them any day of the week. As long as we are on our wedge game, we can beat them. I have been practicing my putting all week. I found something that clicked and I am really dropping them right now. If that happens tomorrow, they better watch out!!

I'll be sure and post the results tomorrow evening.

Why don`t you play your own balls, and count the best 3 scores on each hole instead of trying to stack a team. Then you`d really know who has the best team. Alot of my buddies always want to scramble instead of play their own ball, primarily because they suck, and don`t want to get better.

......yeah like he says. Just pay the money to enter the scramble and then play by whatever format you want. Then just turn in 3 total scores for your team at the end of the day.........hahahaha

WEll, it didn't go that well today. We finished -10. What a s***hole this place was!! I would say that probably 75% of every green was dead. The other 25% was full of crabgrass. No putts were dropping. They were bouncing and the crabgrass was throwing them off line. It was bad. The scores were really high. There was a 56, 59, and then our 62. We couldn't get our shots anywhere close to the hole because they weren't checking at all. Our friends shot the 59 and they said they were bumping and running many of their shots to get them close. Anyway, it is what it is. 62 wasn't bad considering we were only -1 through 6. It was fun though. We ended up drinking at the end of it, once we thought we were out of the running for first.
