My current set of irons are Callaway X-22's (4-9 and a PW, AW, and SW). I've been under the impression that it's usually best to keep all your irons the same brand/model for more consistency. But viewing this board, it seems like a lot of people use a Titleist Vokey wedge (58* and 60*) even though it doesn't match their current iron set.

The X-22 60* Wedge has a 11.0 bounce angle and the Vokey at 60.10* has a bounce of 10.0. From what I've been reading, a bounce of 10.0 is the most preferable for a 60* wedge.

With that said... would you stick with the 60* X-22 to match all your other irons, or would you get a Titleist Vokey wedge instead?

If you like the one that came with the set, keep on using it I'd say. but my irons did not come with a SW or LW so I added them myself.

My set only came with a PW and SW. I bought an AW (or GW) to fill the gap in my current wedges. I don't have a LW yet so I'm curious if I should stick with getting a Callaway for a complete matching set, or going with the Titleist Vokey which seem to be one of the best wedges out there.

Hit both and see what you think of them if you can.

Seriously though, vokey's are awesome and I would take them over any other wedge out there. Matching clubs don't matter to me because I'm not sponsered

Get a 09 Vokey Spin Milled wedge. It is by far the best wedge with the most spin. Plus the black nickel finish just looks sick nasty. If you are going to get a 60 degree wedge, you probably want 4 degrees of bounce because it is easier to work around the green on those really close approach shots compared with hitting out of the thick stuff. (you should use your sand wedge with higher bounce to hit out of sand and thick rough) Keep the bounce at 4 degrees for a sixty. You only really need one club with high bounce and that should be your sand wedge. :)

I also have the X-22s, but my set was 4-PW, so I bought different wedges to go with it.

Unless you just really love the X-22s in the shorter clubs, there would be nothing wrong with putting a Vokey in your set.

You really have definitive answers on what the best clubs are. Do you ever add "IMO" or would you like us to take your word as gospel?

Wedges that come with a set are not designed as wedges just part of an IRON set. Definatly get a Vokey.

1. Do you really need a 60?

2. I'd be cautious about going with 4 degrees of bounce as suggested above by someone who can probably handle that okay and maybe plays a course where it is needed. I play my 60 pretty well, and can't think of a situation where I'd need 4 degrees of bounce (off the cartpath?), and like a lot of players use my 60 out of the sand quite a bit. I think a little more bounce is useful in more situations and doesn't further specialize the club, and again, I wonder if you really need one. Don't get me wrong, everyone should own all the golf clubs they want and clubs they want but don't need or can't hit, but still something to consider.

I'm pretty sure most professional golfers would say the same buddy. Sometimes opinions can be the right answer. Truth isn't relative.

The Vokey is probably going to be a better wedge compared to the X-22. There is going to be a difference in price around 20 $. If you want a good wedge but stick with Callaway clubs I would go for the Callaway X-Forged wedge.

Would they say the same about your proclimation that the burner irons are the best out there?

Not true. It's all personal preference and more about what fits your game and the conditions you play. Anyway, you would never notice a 1 degree difference.

My advice is to skip the 60 entirely.

You really should assess whether you need the 60 degree wedge. I personally carry one and use it at least twice every round. I carry a 48 (set wedge), 52 (CG12), 56 (Mizuno Faldo), and 60 (TA 588), and, while I originally thought that was too much, I usually end up using every single one of them more than once each time I play. I love the options that I have with 4 wedges.

Have you considered the cleveland wedges? Or are there considered as wedges in a lower league than the Titlest ones?
