Golf took over my life awhile ago lol. I make most of my plans around my golf schedule and when I want to go. I go out about twice a week minimum. My girlfriend does not mind seeing how I will take her once or twice a month by ourselfs plus I go with her and her father. Been working on getting my nieces playing.

Since I got serious the last two years, it's taken more and more of my time. Especially from March to September when you can play golf here. I've got golf trips, tournaments, they are definately one of the factors that influence my time the most.

Funny...I am researching getting a golf gps application on a Blackberry device, so I am looking at forums for Blackberries...it's those people who are addicted...to the Blackberry culture! Not sure I want one really; between a Blackberry and golf I won't have room for quotidian activities...

And when I meet people on the golf course and they ask me "So what do you do for a living?" and I reply "You mean what do I do to support my golf habit?"

There a lot worse things that you could invest your time/money/energy in than golf. I used to be big into hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, ATVing, motocross, cars, video games, mountain biking and drinking; but pretty much all of that has fallen away and now golf is my main focus.
For me, golf has been a healthy outlet for my energy and has kept me out of the bar. If it werent for golf, Id probably be a lot many of my peers who only seem to care about hanging out at the bar, getting drunk and having sex with random strangers.

Since i started getting really into golf (early this year)i have found that i am less interested in doing things i used to love. I am on the verge of giving up all other sports to focus on golf and i am checking golf s.a for new events every day:) Does anyone else find that they are in the same position? any solutions

      It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…

      I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
