Would you rather make a hole-in-one on a par 3?
or make a double eagle on a par 5?

Double Eagle on Par 5!

Additionally, in my opinion, chance to get -2 or even more per hole would be like this: (from Hard to Easy)

Double Eagle on Par 5
Eagle on Par 4 (not 300 yards par 4)
Hole in One in Par 3
Eagle on Par 5

Golf: Agony & Love over 3 Generations

Probably the hole-in-one, but I'll take either.

I tried to make this a Poll, but I messed that up...

I'd rather make a 2 on a par 5.

i'd take a hole in one, myself. i know the albatross is a rarer bird, but... i dunno. it just doesn't have the UNF that "i got a hole in one" does to me.

hell, i just like when i get my greens in reg

The PGA should be ashamed of it self, in November they will make Ted Rhodes, John Shippen, Bill Spiller and Joe Louis members of the PGA. 1. I think that this type of award should be given at the height of the golf season where millions of viewers and fans of the sport will be able to see and celebrate the efforts and the courage of these great men, and here we are hiding it away when the season is over. This should be done with millions of Americans watching not in some closed meeting where no one can hear it or see it. The statement that the PGA released was another cowardly act " The PGA of America believes these men but for the color of their skin would have been members who play the game, teach the game, and promote the game. I think that anyone that follows golf knows that Sam Snead would have had a very differcult time beating Ted Rhodes, or Mr. Palmer beating Mr. Spiller or Mr. Nicklas beating Mr. Spiller or Mr. Shippen. The PGA should acknowledge that these men would have been champions of the game of golf. The PGA still won't acknowledge what is absolutely true these men on many occasions would have beat many of the caucasian players noted above. PGA, acknowledge what is true, these champions have waited long enough. What is there to fear, three out of the four of them are dead. Thanks, a true fan of the sport.

Good point, Random Man!

Currently in my bag:  Under Revision

double eagle = 3 strokes

I'd take the double eagle. It's something, if you make it, you'll most likely never even be close to do again. A hole in one is something you got the chance to do every single round on every par 3. Not everyone gets a hole in one, of course, but the double eagle is a harder feat.

A double eagle is a lot harder to get because you'll most likely have a longer club than you would take on a par 3. Also, on a par 3 you just need to hit a good first shot and the ball might go in the hole. On a par 5 you need a good drive and a great second shot.

Statistically, the double eagle is MUCH more difficult and rare. It's also much less likely to be the result of a single lucky shot.

Not even close. Double eagle for me.

I have never had a HIO but i've had a double eagle, (sort of on accident) and i must say that it's quite the experience. the couple i was playing with actually noticed it before i did. i hit a driver and 3w into a front-back sloping green, that i thought i overshot. i'm in the woods looking and they putt, noticing my ball was in the hole. AWESOME feeling. still want that HIO tho haha

I'de take the hole-in-one if I had to pick. Two reasons...

1.) I think you're trying to make the ace when you're on the tee more often than you're trying to make the double eagle from the fairway. Just hitting the green on the shot is regarded as a higher level of success on the par 5 over the par 3.

2.) My dad made a double-eagle about 5 years ago. He never made an ace. So if I make the ace he can't say, "Eh, I've done that before."

double eagle would be great, but Im much more likely to get a hole in one, only takes one great shot to get that and ive already came pretty close twice, most recently about a month ago, within 3 feet on a par 3. I dont have the distance or accuracy to hit what would require fairway wood or hybrid to get a double eagle so that will never happen, even just an eagle on a par 5 would be great, still dont have an eagle yet.
