I second that on the New Decade multicompound. I put the midsizes on everything.

I third that I use the same thing new decade multicompound and I absolutly love them I just got new irons and sprung for the grips from the factory cause I just don't want to use anythig else. They do make a huge difference.

I use a different grip on my 3 wood and Driver. I use the multi compounds on my hyrids and irons, but the standard Golf Pride tour velvet on the woods. Its all about feel for me and i dont like the way cord feels when i have those two clubs in my hands. So just being comfortable would be the pro for me. The con is i have to replace the tour velvets twice as often because they dont last very long. I change the multi compounds once a year on the 7i-wedge, the others as needed. I had to change the grip on my driver 3 times last year, though. Luckily, the tour velvets are cheap.

Completely agree that's actually the exact same way I like my clubs my irons, wedges, and my hybrid are all multicompound and the driver and 3 wood are tour velvet

Are the multi-compund worth twice as much as the tour velvet? Some guys i know said they weren't worth the extra money. I think i will stick with the tour velvet.

I'm sure some will disagree but I agree with you on this.

Tour velvet cord is about as good as it gets. I've got it on all of my clubs except my driver and putter

Here's a good grip grooming tip: don't use soap and water, clean them with rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol. Soap can actually cause the rubber to degrade faster. After a good cleaning with alcohol, grips should feel almost new...maybe not 15 year old grips, though...

Where did you find this out at?

I clean my grips after each round and I always do it with soap and water. If this is true I need to stop.

i agree. the tour velvet cords are easily my favorites, and they can be found for cheap on ebay. just install them yourself - it's a quick and easy DIY. about 5 minutes per club, and $10 of supplies will be enough for you to regrip your set a few times. i put the new BCT cords on my irons a couple months ago for around $60 (10 clubs).

I want them to be clean!

My clubs are nice and I'd like to keep them that way. You might think its crazy but I also wax the heads of each club at least once a week. My "home" course if you will is Birch Creek. The 314Golf pass was given to me for Christmas however I have yet to use it on any of the courses.

Just put the black and red Golf Pride Decade multi-compound on my irons and I LUV EM! I tried the Winn grips.... but even their firm grips felts too mushy. I dont play with a glove so Im sure that has alot to do with it.

The Golf Pride Decade Multi-compound grips are probably the most popular grip out there. I just hit a few shots with the mid size grips and I loved them. Putting them on my set.

lol I'm just like you Mike, never use them more than 3 times without cleaning them, also have waxed them too. I would probably not pay attention to the the post about not using soap and water our grips are not 100% rubber they are a synthic blend SO I certanly not use Alcohol on them.!!

The Callaway FT tour driver comes stock with the white/black new decade multicompound grip. Im getting ready to install one of my driver instead of that stupid standard callaway grip, ive come to hate those. The new decade muticompound grips seriously feel awesome, they dont look like they would feel that good but they are great.

There are brands besides golf pride that offer multi-compound grips, like Avon, Royal, and Tacki Mac. Same concept, much cheaper, and some say they feel just as good. No idea if they last as long and I have not personally handled the non-GP grips.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
