When you refer a friend to these forums, a little counter in your profile ticks up one. To refer a friend to these forums, simply send them to this URL:

http://thesandtrap.com/forum/index.php?referrerid=xxx

You'll want to replace "xxx" with your user ID. You can quickly check your user ID by viewing your own profile (choose "My Profile" from the "Quick Links" in the menu). My profile has a section that reads "userid=1" so I would refer folks here by giving them this URL:

http://thesandtrap.com/forum/index.php?referrerid=1

Spread the word! This forum is new, and as I write this there are nine brave souls - the "front nine" as it were. Let's make the turn, play a few more rounds, and get to the talkin'!

Perhaps we should have a membership drive.

Does anyone have any ideas on increasing membership? I've been thinking of some ideas:

  • I could create a PDF that people could print and distribute to golf stores, pro shops, courses, ranges, etc. I'm not sure how we'd make this attractive to those businesses, though. Ideas?
  • I make a habit of asking people I'm talking to online if they know any golfers. Most of my online friends are geeks, though, and don't golf much.
  • You can pass out the URL to your golfing friends, or email a few, and invite them to join.
  • Your Idea Here

It's the holidays, so people are busy, but hopefully we can get swinging into January with 100 members. That's my goal. It's pretty ambitious, I realize!

What do you think? Everyone can use the referrer stuff above to recommend the site to their friends. What ideas do you have? How could we make it "worthwhile" for stores, courses, etc. to slip something into everyone's bag or hand out papers at checkout?

I'm a bit left out, being up here in PA where we're getting snow now. Gotta live vicariously!

Well, the most reliable way is always word of mouth. Starts out slow at first, but man, watch it grow. I know some people here don't like Golf Rewind, but its only 6 months old, and it has more than 1000 members. I think we could do the same thing here.

To be clear, I liked Golf Rewind, but I don't like any moderator who bans you for saying something like "Man, that sucks." Y'know, "sucks" being proof that you're the anti-christ and all.

Word of mouth, yeah. Just trying to kick it up a bit.

    • Day 126: another busy day, so just did some mirror work. Checking set up and backswing and working on a few downswing feels.
    • Day 310 - Working on my follow-through. Higher chest, belt towards the target. Small swings at first, building to a fuller swing (still not thrilled with my short backswing).
    • Day 201 (19 Nov 24) - Walked the back nine at Minnesott today, played the “white” tees with the persimmon woods and bladed irons.  It’s a challenge I really like as the clubs are shorter in overall distances.  It really forces me focus on the value of the approach game.     Somehow yesterday’s post did not load / so it’s above.  Today (Day 202) I did some backyard short yardage work - 7i dink  and rolls, 9i chips and 50deg pitches - working to get it in before the rain started around noon.
