I've been what I'd consider money with the driver most of the year... I fixed the hooks that I got out of nowhere during the off season.
2 weeks ago I hurt my wrist and thumb in my left hand (i'm a righty).

Since then, my driver has been struggling. I don't know if it's the injury (partially torn ligaments)..but I'd assume my iron game would struggle more...
I've lost distance...and developed a high sweeping fade..... my ball flight looks like me swinging an 11 or 12.5 driver (I use a 9.5 deg. head & stiff diamana white board).

I've tried a stronger grip...then I tried weakening the grip and then bringing it back to neutral. I've tried putting the ball further in my stance to allow the face to get back to square.... I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. any suggestions? the only time the ball draws now is if i'm standing EXTREMELY closed...when I try to play a slight draw.... it'll go straighter...but i'm losing a ton of distance..getting EXTREME height...

Try and hit a hook. Take your normal stance and try and really get the club over. Then work back to straight.

Also, and this is something I have to pay attention to as well. At address, make sure the club face is SQUARE to the target line. I have a habit of keeping it slightly open at address and I end up hitting a high fade as you describe. When I make sure the face is square and I release well, I generally get a decent shot.

Or, it could be your injury preventing a full release.

Check position of driver face at the 3:00 clock position of your take-away.

Make sure it is square to open...

The 'hook' will be no more.

For me, I seem to lose my slight draw whenever I do not shift weight on the downswing. Because of your torn ligament injury (assuming it is on your leg), you may be protecting it and not shifting your weight on the downswing, thereby swinging mostly with your arms instead of leading with the lower body--this guarantees fade/slice shots.

Not to hijack, but I also struggle with a fade. What would be a good way to see if Im leading with my lower body and not just arms?

    • I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.
    • Day 150 1-10 focus on arching the wrist and getting the ball to go left. Recorded, hit foam balls.
    • Day 467 - 2026-01-10 Practiced at Pinehurst every day I was there, and before Junior Elite this morning I got fifteen minutes of backswing checks in the mirror in.
