The Golf Fix?

Is this guy crazy (or just a lot of cocaine)?

I come across this show every once in a while. He does so many different things. I wonder if this type of golf education, with: 20 training aids, differing stances and grips for shots, and etc..., is healthy or a recipe for disaster?


Especially if you're a beginner, all this 'training' puts too much information in your head which slows simple progression...

I love this show, its the best golf show out there. He does as much as possible in the time he has. He answers people's questions and gives really good advice.

I met Michael Breed once, a few years back when the US Open was in the NYC area, some company hired him to give free 5 minute lessons at the World Financial Center.

They had about 4 hitting bays with nets set up, and he just went from bay to bay, taking a quickie interview of the golfer, watched him/her hit a couple of balls, and then quickly a lesson.

Pretty impressive, and a very nice guy.

I think his TV persona is a little too caffinated, but it's an entertaining show.

Really can't stand the guy talking. I've had to watch the PGA championship with him yapping away, sending out bad joke after bad joke with him alone laughing at them. Sure, he may know his stuff, but it's just irritating to listen to him, and it wasn't even like I could turn off the sound as it seperates you too much from watching golf. Just a personality I could do without.

+1 he's too much for me... nice guy or otherwise.

The show is fun to watch. He does have a lot of ideas and training aids so I just try and absorb what I think appeals to me. At the end of the show, there is always something I take into consideration. However, I hate how he's sold out to the website that you use to book tee times (I refuse to say the name). One per show would be fine, but two plugs for this website between each commercial set is way too much!

I love this guy! Yeah he may soon super hyper but he only has like 30 mins to answer like as many question as he can. I love watching the show, its funny.

Those are commercials... They air when his show isn't on, too. I haven't seen him plugging it DURING his show, and I record it each week.

I think it's fine. It's the only instruction show I record along with Playing Lessons (which has rebounded now that Stephanie Sparks is off the show again).

Yeah that dude is a ritalin kid..lol. But most of his tips make practical sense. If anything, i think his intruction show is more useful for mid and low handicaps than beginners and high handicaps.

I enjoy his show! They should have more informational/instructional programs on the Golf Channel.

He does give some good tips and insight on how to correct problems. Just turn down the volume on your TV. You'll enjoy the show and get an idea of what he is talking about No different than any of the ESPN shows that scream information at you.

My wife is like "why is he always screaming"? But, I find the show entertaining and occassionally pick up some good tips.

I like the show. It's actually probably one of my favorites on Golf Channel. Along with the 19th hole. Vince Cellini is the man.

Same here. I think it's pretty impressive how grounded in fundamentals his advice is, given the number of topics he addresses in such a short time. Pretty much the opposite of the tips that litter the pages of

Golf Magazine and Golf Digest .

I like Breed and his teachings (his book is very good and my copy is almost as dog-earred now as Hogan's Five Fundamentals), and I like the content of the show and what he tries to achieve. But I don't care for the hyper style, with the camera jump cuts, etc. I'd love to see what he could do in an hour time slot trying to cover the same breadth of material but with a bit more depth to each topic.

The Golf Channel should have some more original, instructional programming.

I like Breed and I believe he enjoys what he is doing and is good at it, but the format is too frantic and his use of toys a little too contrived at times. It's a good show for the type of show it is, I just would prefer a different type.

A good, normal 1/2 hour on one phase of the game could be done in any number of ways and be a lot more effective, and I think draw an audience.
