played 9 holes today and on the par 5 7th (494 yds) i bombed a drive out there (longest drive ive ever hit) and didnt have too much in so decided to go for it (first time not layed up) and put it to about 20 feet, then made the putt for my first ever eagle (im 17 and been playing about half a year or so as a member, so properly, played bits before so knew how to hit the ball and everything so wasnt too bad a player anyway, first handicap was 20). im just happy that i was playing with my dad as he wouldnt have believed me! just thought id share it with you!

Congrats on your first eagle.

That is awesome that you were playing with your father when it happened, too. Nothing better than this.

I hope you saved the ball. It will mean a lot to you later on.

That's fantastic, I made one two weeks ago and I'm still bragging about it.
congradulations! now go make another.

Congrats on the eagle! It has to be a great feeling.

I'm jealous, because today I lipped out my first ever eagle opportunity from 12'.

Great job. Congrats!
I have come close a few times but still waiting for the big one.

Congratulations. I've yet to make my first eagle, but then again, I've only gone for a par-5 in two three times. The only successful landing, I left my eagle short by a foot.

I hope they don't do to you what they did to me. The next time I played the course, I got to that par-5 that I had hit in two and found the tees moved way up... they converted it from a shortish par-5 into a medium par-4. Well, I can get on that in two plenty of times, but it isn't as satisfying!

Again, congratulations. That is awesome! As was said, save the ball.

Sweet. At this one small course that I play a lot the 7th is a real short par 4, 285 yards. Yesterday the tees were freshly aierated and were moved up to about 250 yards. I grabbed my 5 wood and smacked a nice little draw right at the green and it rolled to about 8 feet past the pin. Then, I got too excited and before I knew it the Dreaded 3 putt had reared its ugly head and stuck me with a nasty par. Lipped out my downhill eagle putt, then my second putt left me with a 1 foot tap in for the par. Should have made eagle, but rushed my putting.

Congratulations on your first Eagle....

I'm not the biggest hitter out there so eagle opportunites don't come up very often on par 5's for me. I've chipped in a couple of times over the years but don't think I've ever had a putt for one.
Canned my second shots on par 4's for them but not quite the same feeling I guess.
Well done again

congrats... well done... enjoy... and go get some more.

I haven't had one yet this year which is bugging me as of late... I've probably had 10-15 putts at eagle, and at least 4-5 have been under 20ft, and a couple from 10. Missed em' all ... 2 lipped out so far.

Yesterday and last week I played this course where 18 is one of those holes where the fairway runs at an angle across water, so if you bite off a lot off the tee you can have a mid-long iron in for 2nd. The whole front right side of the green is water, so it is an intimidating 2nd, and the tendancy is to pull it onto the hill or into the bunker on the left. Click here for pics of 18. Anyway... last week I dunked my 6-iron into the water from about 180 out... yesterday from 175 I hit the green and was left with about 18 feet, but it was a nasty left to right slider... had to play about 6 ft of break and I missed it low and short. Now I'm tempted to just keep playing this course this year, because I know eventually I'll eagle that hole.

Sinking the 20 ft putt for eagle is most impressive. Not to take anything away from your accomplishment, but I actually find that the closer putts (the kneeknockers from less than 5 feet) for eagle are harder since you SHOULD make them. Congrats though!

agree 100%... had a 6-7 footer today on the same hole I was talking about earlier in this thread... and I expect to make from 6 feet (not that I always do)... but, today I drained it for eagle (first of the year) with the group in front of us watching the birdie skin get beat... it was great. And if anyone thinks that some mystical force isn't present in golf... I had a 6-iron into the green each of the 3 times (with 3 different pins)... but today I hit it pure with a nice little fade.

    • That’s a 19th hole story that would be recounted for many, many moons to come for sure…..
    • I know. I was just kidding. BTW - I'd take the second place with the meltdown. It would at least make a good story.
    • That answers my question.  That feels more natural to me. I'll work on that. Thanks
    • Complex question. Good players begin pushing forward around P2. Visibly around P3. They're well on their way forward at P4.
    • Still plugging away with the teacher.  I do have a question after working on some drills last night. This is something I should know already but for some reason, I have gotten myself confused. It deals with weight transfer on the downswing. At what point, should that take place?  Should it be early (prior to reaching A4) ?  I ask because in one of my drills  I get to A4, I feel the weight transfer AS my arms drop, and then go.  Now this may be totally normal, but I "feel" like this gets me in a weird timing position and causes me to try and do too much at once.
