Cobra S2 and S2 Forged

Anyone tried/seen it? I currently own the FP irons.. anyone know how they compare?

Thank you.. they look nice. Anybody know if it would be a good step (or it's gonna be to hard) from my FP (which I like but I like to change :) ) to the S2 Forged?

The forged one's look nice, only con is the lofts on them are very different, go check it out on Cobra's website.

Yes, they are severley delofted. Like the Taylor Made Burners. But I called Cobra and the lofts can be adjusted +/- 2 degrees. They will not be like most normal clubs, but much better.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying?

I play the SZ's, which are also delofted. From what I understand (and I could be way off), the reason for such a severe deloft is that the bottom-weighting of the clubs causes a tendency toward a higher ball flight, and delofting the club brings them back to where that particular club would average. Whatever the case, I hit them high, and long when I make a good swing.
Also, by delofting the club, you essentially turn a 9i into a 7i, a 7i into a 5i, and so on. This gives you more length from the corresponding club from your old set, and you go brag to your friends how long those new Cobras are. Cobra sells another set to your friend.

There is 2 degrees difference between corresponding club.. so If I understand you correctly we can order a set with +2 degrees of loft?

If I was playing a set with a 43* PW I'd just add a 47* or 48* wedge, my Titleist 775 PW is 45* and my Vokey GW is 52*-so I either play a MacGregor MT Pro M 47* PW or my Cleveland Niblick-10 (which carries 47* or 48* wedge distance on full swings).

What I meant was that, after you add the 2 degrees loft, they will be better than they are stock. If you don't want delofted clubs. Sorry about that. Why would you want a 5 iron with the same loft as most 3 irons?

Well-most 3 irons from 30 years ago, it's actually only a couple degrees stronger than the current competition. And while it's true that stronger lofting started as a distance/marketing ploy, the current technology of clubs (super low center of gravity, extreme perimeter weighting, high MOI) make getting the ball in the air easier and also increases launch angles. As a result, stronger lofts are necessary to a degree.

I just don't worry too much about which number of iron I'm hitting a certain distance-only that I know how far that particular club will carry.
