18th tee box... got to finish, getting real dark, spank the tee shot with a little too much ground action and sparks fly from the bottom of my Burner! (Do clubs always make sparks and I just don't know it?)

How late have you played?

Yeah, i think most of the time we do get static discharges with metalwoods. Its just during the day, we cant see or notice them.

This came to mind to me also haha.

But I have seen my buddys driver make some small sparks once when he was teeing off. Pretty cool

Titanium drivers and the sand on the turf make the sparks. Its much easier to see when its getting dark, but every once in awhile if you watch your playing partners, you can see it during the day too. I always know its getting to be the last few minutes when you can only see the silhouette of the ball in the sky after a shot, but thats all you have to go off of where it goes. Finishing out under the lights of the clubhouse is always a decent sign of using every minute of light also.

Pour some gasoline on your swing path on the tee box and try to ignite it - if you suck at scoring, at least thats a way for you to light up the course

P.S. dont really try it - your greenkeeper might not like you for that...

Haha, awesome! I've seen the sparks as well, and would like to see someone try that gasoline thing! Maybe a backyard experiment though...

The last 2 weekends I've played up until dark, and I think the worst part is how hard it is to read a putt at dusk! Putting through shadows is bad enough during the day, but at sunset it's practically impossible for me!

When I was in college, the course was close to where I lived. Since I always walked, I've been locked in many times. It's hard to clime an 8' fence with golf clubs on your back. A few times, me and my buddies would take out the hole liner and put a zippo lighter in the hole so we could putt. we would stay for hours gambling while putting in the dark.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

Played late this weekend just gone, finished up and it was dark, could not hardly see the ball and when we got to the 18th green we could not see the flag at all so it was a guess game as to where it was on the green :)
Needless to say I had a bogey as I guessed wrong :(

I have to say that we played the last few holes in a bit of a rush, I hit the driver solid all round hitting every fairway with it bar the last two but one, these were rushed drives that I sent into the water so 3 off the tee on both, couple this with not being able to see •••• all and I ended a good round with a 6 on a par 4 and 8 on the par 5 and a 5 on the par 4.

I started the round with a 8 on a par 5 due to a hooked 4 iron off the tee into trees which were a few shots to get out of (jungle) then played a few pars to get back to bogey golf until the mess at the end so was happy with how I played, but wont be playing in the dark again.

Played right up until dark last week at the Divide in Charlotte. The last hole is a par 5 and I hit my second shot 216 over water on the green to 5 feet. Made the putt for Eagle. Nuts!

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
