I had two personal best putts today, first was a 54' putt, then on the next hole I dropped a 24', and then out did them all with a 90 footer

Now if I could hit the ball of the tee worth a crap I'd be under 90 in no time.

Thought I'd share

Interesting measurements....did you step 'em off or is that just an approximation?

I've played in a round before where someone in the group would drop 'em from ridiculous ranges. It's fun to see. It's like they are dialed in to some type of cosmic force that enables 'em to feel it.....or is it just blind arse luck?

Last time I did anything remotely like this was in a captains choice tourney back in April. We were on our 18th hole (a demanding par 3) and had a long...long...long double breaker for birdie. We all had hit fairly crappy tee shots.

I was the last to go....everyone else had come up short or wide...par for the team was virtually guaranteed. I set my beer down and took a few practice strokes....enjoying the late afternoon sun and sounds of the course.....stepped up and stroked it pure...the ball hugged the green from the first instant off the face....it felt great....tracked uphill right......leveled off.....downhill left.....leveled off......straight for the last ten feet and slipped quietly into the hole. The reaction of the team was priceless and shouldn't be printed here due to muliple expletives. It was one of the very few shots I contributed to the team all day.

Why does his handicap matter when making a putt?

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

Why does his handicap matter when making a putt?

Because, in theory, a 36 handicap should be the worst putters of all golfers. I think he was making the point that the OP is a better putter than an "average" 36.

Good job to the OP on the putts. It's awesome when you drop those putts. I've had one 90 foot putt (two putted!), but they're hard to come by, so it's awesome that you made one. Like you said, if you improve your striking your scores will drop.

To answer a few questions, yes my HC is embarrassing high, my trouble is getting the ball to the greens. Lessons are in the near future so that will help straighten the ball flight. I usually shoot between 33-38 putts per 18. Putting is the only part of my game that needs little work at this point.

    • Greg Norman reveals plan for LIV Golf teams to have their own courses LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman wants teams to follow Premier League clubs in having their own home games. Here you go. Enjoy.
    • Day 2:  I hit a bucket of balls this morning.  Not gonna lie, almost didn’t go since it was my first time going alone and it was a little intimidating.  I mostly hit with my driver (the last bit of balls was with my 7 iron).  The sun was in my face but I think the ones that had good contact with went the furthest yet (maybe 150 yards then a good roll?).  Once I switched to my 7, the first half of my balls were crap.  I’ve always hit my irons before my driver when practicing and done fine - does this make any difference or is it just because I’m so green?
    • It's likely per "category" of clubs, so irons would be one category, wedges would be a category, driver a category, fairway woods/hybrid a category, etc. They aren't going to charge you $50 per iron for a fitting. Almost all iron fittings are done with like a 6 or 7 iron, fitters don't carry full sets of every iron. So yes, if you use a 7 iron for the fitting and let's say you get fit into the P790 with a certain shaft, 1 degree flat and .5" longer than normal you would just order the full set of P790s with that shaft/lie angle/length combination and you'll be perfectly fine.
    • I think the $50 fitting price tag is per club. The clubs I am most interested in getting fitted for are irons. And I'd rather not spend a bunch on getting fitted for multiple irons. Would I be fairly safe to assume that choosing something like a 6 or 7 iron for fitting would likely relate to other lofts in the same configuration/make/model?
    • A Mevo is 500. Comes with little decals to hit balls inside too.
