Either watch it live and deal w/ commercials or invest in a DVR, wait til the show has completely aired, play the recording, and fast forward through the commercials. Technology is so so sweet.

It's not the commercials he's bothered by. It's the mention of "This $5000 challenge is brought to you by Kodak!" "I want to win that $5000 Kodak Challenge really bad." "Waste Management this, WM that." Etc.

This stuff, you need to just ignore. Just like annoying children. Just ignore it.

I hate to say it, but if the show needs the money, they will do whatever WM or Adams or Disney tells them to do. You think the producers are retarded and don't know that viewers don't like to see all this stuff?

I work in the media and we're always fighting to find the right balance between making the extra money and turning off the consumer. Everyone's got a different threshold and I'm never bothered when a show like Top Chef zooms in on the brand of the stove, or when Big Breakers carry Adams bags and there's signage on the course.

Where it simply crosses the line in my mind is when they stop showing golf to do a 15 second infomercial for how great WM is for the environment. It's never easy to define the tipping point, you just sort of know it. And this week it finally struck me that it was a real turnoff.

I don't know that any of these guys really has the game for the PGA, but remember James Nitties (who they have brought up many times) was a rookie on the PGA in 2009, not sure how he did, but he made it.

I think the thing that makes some of these players not seem to really have the talent, is that especially at the start, we see the weakest players hitting the most shots because they are always going to the elimination.

I think Vincent has a chance (who I hope wins it, both because he seems like a nice guy, but because he went to Oregon state and is always wearing OS hats...) and the Finau's have game, just not sure if they have it in all facets of golf

A friend of mine played in a Pro-Am with Tony and met Gipper. Said they were the nicest guys you could hope to play with and he will root for both of them as long as they are around golf.

Anyway, this is a reality show, what do you guys expect? they are going to highlight Gules as long as he is on the show and who knows maybe Blake will flip out and actually punch him (then Blake would get all my support).......

I had a friend sorta like Gules. Big guy, loud mouth, always out speaks you, took EVERY opportunity possible to throw one your way, major superiority disorder, etc.

He doesn't have many friends. But he has a lot of money thanks to Daddy and a few people around him who can appreciate that. Now that I think about it, these two are pretty much exactly the same type of person. I think it's just a result of being a spoiled brat most of your life, and not having any rules or structure, and your parents always being too busy to spend any decent amount of time with you to raise you right. Is Gules the youngest? Cause this guy is, and his older siblings are normal. My guess is that Gules is the youngest, hence being raised during the time that his parents aren't around.

Gosh I hate this guy, and for that, I hate Gules.

I understand why Guiliani pisses people off, but why this level of disdain? I read it more as he's a bit of a dork who is trying to fit in and just doesn't quite pull it off. I think every example of people getting pissed is that he's simply talking. He hasn't used it as a needle, and he hasn't put anyone down. To say "keep your head up," how is that a problem?

Since no one else has brought it up, I think there's at least a large number of people who hate him because his dad is a very polarizing dude. Either love him or hate him. The funny part of that is that Andrew hates his dad and has basically cut him out of his life. I'm sure there are plenty of people who dislike him and could care less about his dad's politics, but it's got to be a strike against him in many people's eyes. Maybe it's that people just hate kids of privilege? I didn't see anyone giving Susan Luicci's son a hard time, but maybe it would have happened if he lasted a few shows. But it's not like Perez would be there if it weren't for his brother. Or the husband of a past Big Breaker. They all have a story and the one theme is nearly all of them have a name built by others.

I was a little bummed to see Sean gone. Neither of them played good in elimination. It was just sad to watch. If Blake plays like the playoff hole of the elimination he'll have a good chance, but honestly he isn't as good as he thinks he is. I thought Sean was a much more total package, but he chunked 2 chips/pitches and missed a short putt, and that cost him.

As for Guiliani, it isn't really the nonstop talking that annoys the heck out of me, it's the smirk. God, every freaking time I see him do that stupid little smirk it makes me want to reach into the TV and choke him out. I hope Blake goes absolutely bananas on Andrew over the course of the show. That would be awesome.

After I've seen the show a few times, I've got to say I'm really impressed by the following: Vincent, J.R., Tony, and Mike. And as much as I hate to say it, Andrew has good a pretty nice game. It's just that I almost have to watch BB in MUTE sometimes.

Being part of basic cable/satellite packages and not requiring special subscriptions (like movie and porn channels) makes it just a little more difficult to stay afloat. So just enjoy the fact that you don't need to spend an extra $10/month to watch golf on TV, change channels during the commercials (come back quickly though, they are short commercials), and think about your last great shot every time they go on about WM 10 times in the course of 3 minutes.

I wish Golf Channel was a part of basic cable here. I pay extra for it as it's a part of the "sports pack." Basic cable here really doesn't get you much.

I think J.R. is a solid player, also think the tats are sweet. You normally don't see that on a course, let alone, the GC.

You're right - he does clap like an a-hole. Seriously - hasn't he ever seen himself clap on video? How can he think that looks cool? Makes it even more douchy when you realize he knows how he looks when he claps and still claps that way.

it lets you play in 1 event but you still have to go to q school. winning the big break pays for q school and then some. what im saying is that he has every opportunity in the world to make it without even going on the big break. try giving the spot to someone who wouldnt be able to afford q school otherwise

It's really hard to say what the family money arrangement is. My family had money, not kajillionares but well enough and I was expected to make my own way. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a similar arrangement. I have to say that I wouldn't be at all surprised if Andrew took it all.

If this info has been posted earlier please forgive the repitition but I don't have time to read the complete thread to check.

I do know that from time to time I see posts on BB threads asking where someone can watch old shows online. I came across a web site that has all and complete episodes of BB X and XI and they present them in full screen format too!

www.fancast.com

Enter "Big Break" in the search box to get links to the show pages.

I'm guessing that getting a talented group to commit to the show is tougher than we might imagine. I'm sure some say no to the show because they think the show is beneath them or don't want to risk embarrassing themselves out there. Others probably just have confidence in their games and don't think they need Big Break to get where they want to go. Then again, I could be wrong.

They don't recruit based on talent, they recruit based on what they think will make the best TV. I am sure there are a ton of guys with plenty of talent that would take the ods of winning the prize package. Besides where else can a strugling golfer get their expenses paid to compete? hell I think they even get paid to be on TV like other Reality "stars" do

I wouldn't be suprised to see them paired together. They'll probably be the last two left and end up having to go together.

Reality tv is pretty predictable. That's exactly what's going to happen. Although I'm not sure how anyone would pick Kevin over Andrew unless they are just annoyed by him and don't want to deal with it.

Personally I'd much rather be annoyed by that douchebag and make it on to the next round, than pick someone else and lose. Losing and facing elimination is much more annoying than Andrew's voice for one round.

[QUOTE=deronsizemore;386600]You can tell he can play and evidently all the other guys on the show know he can play (because they keep mentioning it) but if doesn't show it when it counts, it doesn't really matter.

I'm a little late to the party here, but as far as Blake goes... I feel like I see a lot of talent and while I agree that he has looked like a big choker a few times, he must have some game, or else his peers wouldn't sound like they praise him so much all the time.

Talk about making a shot when it counts... how about the last swing he took to basically drive a stake into Sean. Knocked it to what, 20 feet from 275 out? That was a clutch shot. If he can muster up more shots like that when it matters, he just might walk away the winner. His attitude pisses me off sometimes, but I kind of enjoy watching it in a twisted way because it reminds me of myself occasionally.

Do you guys think that it would be more interesting, or less interesting to toss a few schlubs into the contest? Have these guys, who are all tour-level talent. But add in 2-3 "reverse ringers" who are 5-7 handicappers. Or maybe just 1. It would automatically build in the Cinderella story line. I'm just grasping at straws for what would make the show itself more interesting. Right now, you almost have to wait a few years to see where these guys go. But wouldn't it add some interest to see if a guy with a less-than-perfect swing, but nerves of steel could knock off some of these aspiring pros with knocking knees?
