I know most of you are going to say "go get fitted," - but I was just hoping to gather some input from you guys as well.

I'm currently playing an 11* Callaway x460 with the stock Fujikura Regular flex shaft. My swing speed is pretty slow - in the 90-95MPH area.

I love the head, but I think the combination of the shaft and the 11* is making me push it up way too high. I don't sky it. It just has a climbing trojectory and at its peak I get a fade.

In addition to the fade, becase it goes so high, playing in the wind becomes very difficult.

With all that background, what would you recommend for a shaft? I'm looking for control and a mid-trajectory. Perferably a shaft in the $50-100 area.

Thanks in advance!

I play a 9* x460 with a Stiff Fujikura and also find that it's a bit higher trajectory then I'd like. I personally like the UST Proforce V2 in a couple clubs, I find it brings the trajectory down and is pretty cheap, shop around and you should be able to get one for ~$50.

I am in the process of reshafting my Taylormade Burner Draw 10.5 Driver with a UST Proforce V2 regular shaft (65g). I've read great things about the Proforce V2, and am looking forward to trying it out. My current shaft is the 50g Taylormade stock regular shaft, which is quite light and a bit whippy. I got the Proforce V2 at Golfsmith for about $55 using a 20% off coupon, and they are doing the reshafting.

Like you, I know the mantra to get fitted, but I weighed the different options and went based upon that. I think my swing speed puts me closer to a regular than a stiff shaft, but I play stiff shafts pretty well also, so I went with the regular Proforce V2 which is supposed to play pretty stiff for a regular. Should be perfect for me. And I went with the non-high launch V2 shaft since I get good loft already with my 10.5 head, and the 10.5 combined with the V2 should give my drives a nice trajectory.

That's my .02 cents. Plenty of good shafts out there--everyone will pretty much post what they use--Aldila, UST, Fujikura, etc. Good luck in your search.

Hard to recommend. A good (very good) all-rounder I would advocate is the Graphite Design YS6+. GD's "stiff" flex is usually considered a bit softer than other OEMs so I might go with the YS6+, stiff, 65g. Mid-launch, stable, great feel. Want a lower launch and a bit more stiffness, try the 75g version or the YS7+. For more money, try their newer YSQ 65 in stiff.

I agree that the V2 is a good shaft. I'd move to a stiff shaft as your swing speed is on the border for stiff. Since it's still on the low side, I'd select a lighter shaft in the line.

I have the GD YS6+ in an 07 Burner. Great low to mid launch shaft. Stiff would like work for you in this shaft as it is a little weaker than most stiff shafts I've seen.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
