MP 57's!!

This has been a good day! Got a killer deal on them on ebay, and cant wait to get them in!

I settled for the S300 shaft even though I wanted Project X's. The S300's were like 200 bucks cheaper, so it was a fairly easy decision.

Cant wait to get these babies in!

Congrats dude!!!!!

I've been drooling over Mizuno forgings for many years but I just don't have the game to warrant the purchase of them. I've always said I'd do it once I break into single digit status...but thats gonna take some lessons and fundamental changes.....TIME.

I hope you game them well.

If nothing else...your bag has some new bling. Bling of the highest order.

Two of the guys I'm playing with on Monday use Mizzy irons. The rest of us mortals in our group simply have "club envy".

You better post up some pics when you get them.

Now...please tell me that you didn't do anything like order headcovers for them. These babies need fresh air (I'm serious).

Hahaha, not quite. I read it here on this forum.

If I remember, he said "When you see someone gaming Mizuno irons, he's a person who knows what he's doing. When you see someone gaming Callaway irons, you know he's a person who thinks he knows what he's doing, but he actually doesn't"

I feel like I got the short end of the Mizuno stick then, because my father-in-law games X-22s and cleans his cleats with me time and time again...

Thanks guys!

Dub- headcovers, NO WAY man... I will not be that guy, plus I dont like rusty irons

Im really looking forward to this man, been demoing a set of 57's with project x shafts and got out today to use them one last time. These are by far the best irons I have ever touched.

My game isnt there yet where I hit them clean every time but surprisingly they are very forgiving on "most" mis hits...

Oh and I started working the ball into greens, (7-PW) and that is the COOLEST feeling on earth! The ball takes off on one line then just starts turning right into the pin!

This is gonna be a good winter season!

Ill take some pics when I finally get them!

OK guys, got my clubs in today!! They seem a bit upright in lie angle so I will have to get that fixed tomorrow, but man they are beautiful! Came with some nice Winn PCI grips too, I thought I'd be changing them, but I really like them so I'll keep em on.

I didnt feel like taking pics but here is the ebay link if you guys wanna see them. They are in really nice condition!

They are 1/4" up not 1/2" like the auction says, which works out perfect for me as I needed them 1/4" over standard!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

Im so excited! Gonna get em bent to my spec tomorrow and them take em to the range!

    • Never practiced golf when I was young and the only lesson ever taken was a driver lesson. I feel like I'm improving every year. However, the numbers don't support my feeling about improving. I usually drop to 12-13 during the summer while playing the familiar courses around home and then go on golf trips in the fall to new courses and increase to end the year between 15-17. Been a similar story for a number of years now but hey, it's the best thing there is in life so not too bothered but reaching 9.9 is the objective every year. Maybe a few lessons and practice could help me achieve it since I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, just playing and never practice.
    • I am semi-loyal. Usually buy four dozen of one ball and only play that until out and then determine whether to continue or try another one. Since starting my semi-loyal path to success, I've been playing the below, not in order: ProV1 ProV1x ProV1x left dash AVX Bridgestone BXS Srixon Z-star XV I am not sure if it has helped anything, but it gives a bit of confidence knowing that it at least is not the ball (while using the same one) that gives different results so one thing less to mind about I guess. On the level that I am, not sure whether it makes much difference but will continue since I have to play something so might as well go with the same ball for a number of rounds. Edit: favorite is probably the BXS followed by ProV1/Srixon Z-star XV. Haven't got any numbers to back it up but just by feel.
    • Will not do it by myself, going to the pro shop I usually use after Cristmas for input and actually doing the changes, if any, but wanted to get some thoughts on whether this was worthwhile out of curiosity.
    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
