So I am sick and tired of duck hooking my nickent ironwood... that thing has cost me enough strokes.

I hit everything else nice, I just think its that big offset head that causes me to hook the ball. I have a pretty flat swing plane coming from the inside out and I think with that big offset the face is pretty closed at impact...

My question is, how does the regular burner rescue's offset compare with my nickent ironwood?

Also would the tour burner rescue be for me because it is "engineered with a fade bias" versus the regular which is "engineered with a draw bias"??

Thanks guys, I cant demo clubs so Im kind of in the dark here.......

But Im thinking something with a face thats open vs. closed might just be the ticket??

Need a club that can get me 200-210 yards when needed.

Jim

see if you can find one of THESE in 3-iron.

I can smash mine straight every time. Its a perfect club, and best hybrid I ever hit. Got 2 of them and you'll only hear praise from me. Only other hybrid I liked was the Cleveland halo.

What's your stock shot with your irons? I assume a draw because of your flat, inside-outside swing plane? The tour model is probably best for you. You will probably duck hook even more balls with the regular model.

I had the same problem with hybrids. I happened upon a used Macgregor Mactech NVG2 7 wood. I have the same model driver and 3 wood, and I hit them very well, so I decided to take a chance. Wow!!! What a stroke of luck!! It's been long and straight, starting with the very first swing!!! I'm going to have to learn to use a knock-down to close the gap between it and my 4 iron. My drives average about 250, my 3 wood is about 220-230 off the deck, and the 7 wood is about 200 yds. I'd love to try a 9 wood... just curios.

    • Day 27 (4 Apr 26) - Worked with grandson on basic pitches/punches in the back yard with varied irons/wedges.  Wrapped up the day rolling some putts on the 30’ carpet I can set up in the yard to give varied terrain - and this carpet rolls almost too easy. A great way to figure a read and know that pace has to be near perfect to get in the hole.
    • A bit of a struggle today.  Just some thoughts/musings.  For the backswing, it is like I am never going to be moving on from this. I don't know if I can ever get to the point where the backswing isn't like over 1.5 seconds in duration. Which is probably not ideal. I would like to get to the point where I can just fling the arms back and up.  I have to feel like my hands are going to hit my right thigh from P1 to P2. If not then they like to move 2-5 inches towards the ball from P1 to P2. Then it's just bad from there. This feeling is my hands not gaining much depth, just maintaining depth from set up. From the DTL view, the hands head towards the camera.  While I am doing that, hinge the crap out of the club with my wrist only. Hinge in a way that the club is pointing at the camera at P2.  From P2, lift the hands straight up. I can get here, and still roll the club inside and get it way too shallow.  With the downswing. There isn't much here. I still can't get the flow of this or the sequencing of this to line up. It doesn't help that hinging from P1 to P2 just throws off my entire timing as well.
