I am considering getting custom fit to a driver shaft. Because I have a swing speed of 110 with a pretty violent swing and a stiff shaft. My misses tend to be hooks. According to swing speed charts I should be using a x-stiff shaft.

Before I do anything I was wondering if its worth it and how much it helped your game.

Getting fitted is really the only way to determine what works best for your swing.

My swing speed average is 110 as well and I use a stiff and it's perfect for me. There's no standard for shafts though so one company's stiff may be another company's regular, etc. I have a stiff UST AxivCore Red. I'd recommend hitting it if possible.

Boston? On Nantucket for three years now working myself. Anyhow, get fitted, no question about it. The right shaft is important and getting a professional fit is key. Money well spent. Finally broke down and did this myself this past June while back home in NC. Wish I had done it years ago.

If you are serious about your game definetly get fitted, but make sure that it is with a knowledgable person. Any monkey can read numbers off of a read out. A knowledgable fitter gains insight from those numbers and watching your swing. Also, IMO, anything other than club head speed, launch angle and ball rpm's are fluff. If you really want to know the flight of the ball go to a outside range.

Considering how many equipment manufacturers will do this for you for free, I'd say it's worth it. Decide on the club you want, and go to a demo/fitting day with the manufacturer.

As for helpfulness, I don't know. I've never played with non-fit clubs. I did have a fitting go bad, but that wasn't a fitting by a manufacturer, but rather by someone who turned out to be a shafts salesman.
