Mine was definitely seeing the face of my first boy after birth. He must have been the ugliest living creature ever to be born out of a human body.

I was on a business trip, about 6-hour drive from home and my wife calls me at 4 am that she is in labour. There I grab the car and drive 100mph till I get to the hospital and they show me this "thing", suppossedly a baby boy... and they try to convince me that he is my son...

A shapei with a full head of hair-ball was more like it...

I tell ya, all your stories are nothing compared to MY scare !!!

Please don´t swing while I´m talking !!

i'm 16 but damn i feel for you and parents all over. i was a horrible kid, like, daring. i would even climb on my roof!!! i've busted my lip open, broken some bones and put my parents through alot. im hoping when eventually, God willing, i get married and have a family, my kids aren't as bad as i was. hopefully they're mom was a good kid!

I had many of the same thoughts when my wife was pregnant...mom was a graet kid...my boys - they are like me. I don't have time to tell all the damn stories.

I had something happen to me this past Friday that really shook me up. I was walking down the stairs at my house holding my 10 month old daughter ,our first child, and slipped and fell. When I hit the stairs, she bounced out of my arms and landed on the last step, then bounced onto the landing hitting head first.

You know I use to feel the same way you did when my son was born. I was always running around at the first instant he would start crying but I have realized just how tough kids are. Have you ever taken a babys leg and touched their head with it? Try doing that yourself and you will pop a Ham String...lol My kids use to cry and I almost never reacted anymore because I got use to what they were doding and realized most of the time they just scared themselves. I always knew when the real "cry" came out and then I would go check on them...

The hardest thing you have to do is understand it was an accident. Any parent worth his or her salt does not want to ever hurt their child. Understanding they are flexible and durable because we as parents make mistakes is part of the growing process for both parties involved... I am sure when your kid is old enough and does something stupid the story of "Well, its my fault because I did drop her on her head" will come up and there will be a few laughs... Have a good Thanksgiving...

When my now 19 month-old was 13 months, we put him to bed with a little sniffle, thinking nothing of it. We were awakened at 1am by horrible coughing and crying over the baby monitor. When we went into his room, his breathing was labored and he had a nearly constant, barking, cough. We called the advice line for our HMO, the nurse listened to him breathe and told us to call 911. The FD arrived in about 3-5 minutes (longest of my life) only to tell us that he had croup, nothing to be afraid of. The firefighters were the most professional group of men I've encountered. We took the little guy to the emergency room and were back home before my older son woke up (grandma was able to come over and stay with him while we were gone). Not fun, but undoubtedly a rite of passage as a parent.

Croup is never fun :( not terribly life threatening, but it's bleeping scary to hear a baby bark like a seal..

I'm not sure if me being a paramedic is going to be good or bad for my children haha.

Glad she is OK.

A scary moment I recall was the first time mine slept all through the night. I woke up in a panic thinking they must be dead...nope...just hungry and in need of a fresh diaper.

I'm taking my boy to the driving range for the first time this weekend, should be fun.

    • At address? I think so. Downswing and through? IDK. I doubt if a whole lot of golfers, if any at all, deliberately think "I have a 9-iron so I need to bend half an inch more through the downswing compared to my 8 iron".

    • I am listening to 23rd Street.  24 hours a day of cars, trucks, planes, sirens, and neighbors who start lawn mowers at 6:30am. I try to drown it out with 7,600 WAVE music files on a huge USB drive.  Mostly 1950's through 1990's music.
    • Thanks! Evolvr, for sure. My indoors setup is pretty close to ready. I want to add a few more lights as it's a pretty dark place to begin with (old barn). Plan to use my iPhone 14 Pro, 720p 240 FPS. I think I got a tripod somewhere, but I nail everything down so I'll make a small box I can just plop the phone into. That way I know it's always in the same spot and level. How does the setup look in terms of angles and stuff.  I saw that topic and bookmarked it for later. A technique where you want the head to move forward and down? I've been doing that for twenty years! (not on purpose) 😛 Looks fun, I'll certainly try it out. £7000. That's certainly "down the line". What would be a good price? Thanks. I'll probably hold off until at least winter comes and see where we're living at that point. For the next six months I'll combine indoor practice with the range, which helps.
