I've found a great show that packs in loads of tips during a 1/2 hr show. The name of the show is the golf fix and it is on the golf channel mondays @ 7pm EST. Does anyone else watch this show? I've only seen it once and love it. It was the best of tips episode and had great drills for putting/chipping. Using these drills for one day they helped me shoot my lowest score ever (44). I'm usually scoring low 50's....

What are your thoughts on this show.. are there any others out there that you guys watch?

best
Joe

Michael Breed moves a little too fast for me. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching Mad Money.

I like the show and all but he is defintily on speed or something. He talks way to fast and is way to hyped up to not be on something. Reminds me of Billy Mays or Shamwow guy. I watch it and my wife leaves the room. Says she cant take how fast he talks.

I'm going to give you a little advice. There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball.

Sorry but Michael Breed is a very poor teacher and even worse as a tv personality. Also, no one on tour is using him nor do they give him any credibility.

Something about his personality seems to grate on most folks but that would be ok if he actually could get his point across, which he does not. Way too fast that most folks can't comprehend.

I hate the show but want to like it. I've tried watching it many times. I just can't get over the hyper speed. I also don't think he goes in depth enough with his lessons.

I think a better show would be someone who breaks down a student's swing, examines a single fault, and then works to eliminate it. I'd get more out of that.

I agree with this last part of the above quote; he goes so damn quickly that it is tough to pick up key learning points. Think if you had a teacher in school that went at his pace.... would be pretty tough to learn from him. I think the show would be much better if he tried to cover half as much but did a more thorough job of what he was getting across.

the show in general can be a little scatter-brained, but the "best of" episode was GREAT! I wasnt able to record it but every single tip in that episode was SUPER useful, plus i'm a little biased, my buddy Mario works for him so I'm always hearing him talk about him...

I certainly agree that he does go super fast through the show. I guess I haven't found it problematic because I'm watching it on DVR so after he gives a little tip I can pause the show grab my broom w/ the golf shaft and grip and practice the swing technique.

It is no replacement for actual teaching and swing correction from a PGA pro or teaching pro but he does offer some valid tips.. and little things to look at in your game.

It may be more valuable for a high handicapper as myself who needs to be reminded / taught about things that may seem menial to seasoned golfers.

Besides my buddies on the course & this forum.. he is my only other source of teaching.

Actually, he's not really like that. They wanted the show to be like Mad Money and thats why all the high energy, many camera shots, loud talking, manly grunts, etc, etc...

If you watch videos of him unrelated to the golf fix, you will see what a calm guy he really is.

Oh, and for those who say he's not any good, I dont really know, but his swing is pretty sweet... Nice smooth controlled tempo...

Anyways, thought I'd chime in.

I like the show. I dont know what him not teaching any tour pros has to do with his credibility. There are a lot of good teachers that have never taught a pro. Also, we know there are teachers that have taught pros and fubered their swings.

This was my thought as well. Seems to be what their shooting for in teh direction of the program. I like the concept of the show, just not it's execution.

    • Im struggling to hit a 3 wood any distance. Im 67 now and used to use a 3 wood all the time. My swing speed with the 3 woods is between 80-84. I am only 5'5" tall. I currently have 4- 3 woods in my used club selection. I have an old Titliest 910FD, a Taylormade Sim2, a PXG gen 4 and a Ping G430. None of these can i hit more than 180 yards and often much shorter. My driver which is a Ping G430 I hit about 210-225. Heres the crazy thing, I carry a Taylormade Sim2- 7 wood that I hit 175-185. I carry an older titliest H1 Hybrid 23* that i hit 165-175. All yardages are with carry. When i hit both the Hybrid and the 7 wood they feel like very solid strikes yet I never feel like i hit any of these 3 woods solid. All of these clubs have regular shafts of different manufacturers. I would like to be able to hit a 3 wood 200 yards. Im thinking I need to start playing with shafts, Maybe even shorten them some. I have equipment to pull shafts and set swingweights and reglue. I have a bunch of reg flex old driver shafts that i could shorten. My driver, 7 wood and Hybrid are all D3 Swingweight. The 3 woods are D3 as well.  Where would you start? Thanks Rod
    • This was a great read from start to finish. Ive been watching the LAB putters for 3 or 4 years now. Ive never been a good putter and Ive worked at putting but i just dont seem to get better at it. I play at least 3 times a week with a 11.6 Hdcp and i have owned probably 20+ putters over my last 10 years. Ive even tried the broomstick putters which at first I thought helped but as time went on i missed just as many putts. For me it comes down to nerves which i struggle to control when putting. I always feel like i have someone leaning over me watching my every move when i putt. I had a friend I play with this fall go get fitted for a LAB and he came back all excited, he bought one and he was already a player that probably averages 32 putts a round. So i think I would say hes a good putter. I used his putter a few times and the feeling i get compared to my putter which right now is a Ping Vault 2.0 Piper and just before that an Evnroll ER5v and before that Spyder Ghost........anyway the feeling I notice was that i can take the putter back without it twisting some. At least thats the feeling i get. I dont know if i would be a better putter with a LAB putter but after this year i will know as I went and was fitted and have one on the way. I can only hope it makes a differnce. If not ive got plenty of putters to fall back on!  Rod
    • Great year last year. Who winning this year could be another special story? Brooks? Spieth? Or Aberg? An AM? I dont know if anything could top last year
    • I love Rancho Park too!  I don't get out there much due to the 405 issues (Im in Santa Clarita) but I do try and get out there every now and then...last time out was in January where I eagled 17 (left green) with a holed 145 yard third shot ! Rancho is a great course! And at 24 bucks weekday with the city card, an absolute steal!
    • I have played PGA West, at least one or two courses in there, but I am not sure if I've played any of the courses used to host the Hope. I played a course that I think both isn't PGA West and is host to the Hope a few years ago, possibly at a TST outing, but I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right one. I have played Rancho Park plenty of times (exactly half of my sub-80 rounds were there!) and Wilson/Harding.  Rancho Park might be my favorite golf course among those I've played more than a half dozen times.   Hopefully I'll get a chance to play TPC Scottsdale, maybe this August or September, and at some point I think there was a PGA Tour event in Las Vegas, I should get up there and play those course(s).
