Nice to see (and pretty nice to watch as well). maybe now she'll concentrate on her own Tour and leave the PGA events alone.

If they allow women to play PGA events, why don't they allow men to play LPGA events? Pretty sure some of the struggling Pro's on the PGA would welcome the money.

When's the last time she played a men's event. C'mon, get a grip.

My mom told me not to make fun of [idiots]. Sometimes it's difficult...

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

I'll stand by what I said. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

The only thing we know for a fact is the past and in the past, her career decisions haven't exactly been spot on have they?

Two very entertaining tours, two sets of excellent golfers. The twain shouldn't be allowed to meet.

I think you miss the point incredibly badly. I may not put it as strongly as Butch, but frankly, I have no respect for people who think that because a woman chooses to compete against men, that men should be allowed to participate on the LPGA... it's dumb. It's asinine.

It's also been discussed several times and is off-topic. In the hopes of helping you to understand just why that view is so off-kilter: Tom Watson nearly won the Open Championship this year. I guess that means Tiger should be allowed to play in Champions Tour events too. He should probably be able to reach 18 majors more quickly that way, right? And why stop there? Let's let him play in junior events, too. What's stopping him? Some teenagers play on the PGA Tour, after all, right?

She wasn't an LPGA member in the past, either.

Let's stick to the topic, folks. Congrats again to Michelle Wie, and following her WD from the ankle injury at the Tour Championship, best wishes and get well soon. Not that she's in a rush - she has a few months.

I was watching that Tour Championship on Thursday and saw her swinging gingerly on that ankle. What is the deal? I haven't bothered checking for myself.

Golf Channel is replaying the first round right now, after today's action was rained out. Michelle lost her balance badly after a tee shot on #16 and Charlie Rymer said it's obvious to him that Michelle wouldn't be playing if it were the middle of the season, given the ankle difficulties. He said Michelle is only playing because it's the end of the season and she thinks she can get through one or two more events. Dottie Pepper agreed.

Unfortunately that was not the case. Hours later she withdrew. Some golf forums have been flooded with comments questioning the severity, or even the actuality, of the ankle injury. That's asinine, given the telecast on Thursday. Michelle was limping around long before the double bogey on #17.

Yeah, it looked pretty clear to me that she was not faking anything. I even winced watching her hit shots. I hope its nothing too serious, particulary after her first win and all.

I've come back from an ankle injury, thankfully it was my right, not my left like what Michelle is dealing with. If I'd have broken my left the way I did my right, I'd probably be learing how to play left-handed right now. That lead ankle takes a lot of torque and strain.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
