Well the time is right around the corner and I cant wait. I have tickets for the OU/OSU game in Stillwater, biggest game in the state, bragging rights on the line every year!!!

Well anyways, the question is, who is everyone picking to win the National Championship this year? We can see who picked right at the end of the College season!!!

My pick is Notre Dame!!!! (yes Cody you heard it here FIRST)

I'm definitely ready for college football. Baseball season just doesn't get the job done until the postseason. I'm pretty bored with it right now.

As for Notre Dame, they probably won't even win their first three games. If they can get through those first few games unbeaten, they may have a chance to win it all. However, their defense still can't stop anyone, so someone will beat them in a shootout. Michigan will probably beat them. Lately the team not favored in that game has won, so that doesn't bode well for the Irish this year.

I'm picking Florida to win the national championship. I know their conference is super tough, but SEC teams have come out looking good the past few years. Also, Urban Meyer has a great record in his second year at a program, and Chris Leak is a Heisman candidate at QB. I'm picking them to run the table.

Then again, Florida may not win their first three games either. :/

It's going to be a great year in college football. There is a lot of parody at the top. Keep an eye on USC as well. The last time they lost a great QB (Carson Palmer), they got Matt Leinart. That turned out ok. I can't stand them, but they are well coached and will be solid yet again.

USC will be lucky to have the "next best QB" in Mr. Sanchez ready for the season, seeing he is lucking down the barroll of some jail time

Mr. Sanchez isn't even the projected starter though. John David Booty is healthy again and will be taking the reigns from the get-go. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if USC went 0-12, but that's highly unlikely out in the "weak schedule" country.

Hey Nebraska isn't that bad. Second string quarterback just quit and best DB tore anterior cruciate, think they might be able to hang with USC for 3 quarters.

Yeah, USC's non-conference schedule isn't too bad at all. Their game against Arkansas was looking tough until McFadden (Arkansas RB) was injured. I'm looking forward to the USC/Nebraska game. I'm not a Nebraska fan by any means, but I would like to see them return to prominence. They have too good a history to struggle, but it looks like they are going in the right direction.

It just makes me sick to watch them not run the option 25-30 times a game. I love the option offense.

as much as i hate them i think wvu will be a team to watch this year. Their qb (i cant remember his name) looked really impressive against tech last year...even though we still won!!!

unfortunately i dont think the hokies have a chance of doing much of anything this year...but we do have 8 home games, which are always fun

Yeah, VTech is one of my favorites. I love Frank Beamer's emphasis on great special teams and defense. Their home games are always a blast to watch.

Pat White is WVU's QB I believe, and Steve Slaton is their excellent RB. Those two will carve up a lot of defenses, and their schedule is very weak this year. Then again, they were heavily hyped two years ago and stumbled out of the gates. So we will see.

I just checked out WVU's schedule, and they don't play VTech this season. What is the deal with that? Their schedule is extra weak now. Louisville is the only team that can beat them. That's crappy.

I would love to see Texas repeat but don't think they have a chance with a Freshman QB. I think OU will be hunting for a QB after the Bomar suspension. Hope he goes to Sam Houston U. Thats my alma mater!

My alma matter, Penn State, is going to ruin the Irish's NC hopes...Then ruin Ohio State's shortly thereafter.

In all seriousness, they have a new QB and secondary, but a lot of speed...at least for a big 10 team. I'm hoping for a 9 win season.

I think it will be ND or Ohio State. I'm leaning towards ND because they have a better coach. I love Tressel, but love Weis even more. The only thing about ND that scares me is their defense. They might pull a USC and just outscore everyone.

Fairways and Greens.

They will have to. Their defense may have improved, but it's not that good. Zbikowski is an All-American at safety, but they are pretty moderate everywhere else. I just don't think you can win it all without a solid defense. Even USC's defense was good the year they won it (I'm not giving them two in a row because LSU won the BCS title).

They will get outscored once or twice just like they did in the bowl against Ohio St. last year. It's just bound to happen with all the high-powered teams they play. Penn State should have a great defense, but I'm not sure if they can score enough to keep up with some teams. But like I said, defense wins more than offense wins, so who knows.

If OSU wins the whole thing, I will be absolutely shocked. I just dont see any way they can win the National Championship, but that is just my opionion

WVU, could be a very interesting pick though, the QB and RB, are going to great!!!

And then get crushed when they come to Camp Randall to play the Badgers!

This is the year that Spurrier grabs some national attention at USC. He's been downplaying this team to no end. Either he's a great motivator or he's telling the truth... I strongly believe it's the former...

If you can win at Duke you can win anywhere. Ok, Temple may be the exception.

PS, Please do not reply that Pete Caroll coaches USC. Real football is played in the Southeast.

Ahh... someone who "gets it". As an Auburn alum, I admit I am partial to the SEC, and expect the SEC to provide a BCS Championship participant. I hope it is Auburn, but I see Florida and LSU as threats.

No doubt West Va. will have a chance given the terribly weak schedule....what a shame to see a talented team like West Virginia suffer the fate of playing in the weakest BCS conference and having a schedule that should make them blush.

On another side of the coin, Pete Caroll can coach, and I predict that he will find a way to win in the suspect PAC-10. My rank of conference strength this year...(with confernce winner)

1) SEC (Auburn).. what did you expect?
2) Big Ten (Ohio St)
3) ACC (Va. Tech)
4) Big 12 (Texas)
5) PAC-10 (USC)
6) Big East (West Va)

Notre Dame will be in the mix because the NCAA needs them there. They will be solid, and they have premiere coaching. Watch out for Duke, too. They will sneak up on some teams.... relax....I am joking.

I expect some response to this post... it's almost game time, friends!

    • @Philip Belgium,  If I haven't already, Welcome to TST.  Your injury sounds serious and I hope you fully recover.   Thanks for sharing your story.  ..... each day get 1-2% better.   (A ray of sunshine and a positive outlook)
    • Day 91 (1  Aug 25) - Pre-tournament practice round today…had some great up and downs for par saves.  Rain came in this evening so it will be a totally different playing course tomorrow.
    • Jesus, when he keeps saying scissoring moment, ugh that is a horrible sounding phrase. Just makes me cringe. It doesn't help my mind went to Mr. Garrison from South Park. 🤣 If you know you know.  I think for the most part, golf shaft companies have gotten this figured out. They ask questions like, what tempo do you swing at. The whole scissor terminology sounds like they want to stand out a bit.  Yea, golfers load the golf shaft differently, and different bend profiles can help out. I do think swing speed matters as well. You probably want a golf shaft with lower torque if you swing faster.
    • Played 9 holes, shot a 39.  Kind of got around. Everything between the trees, so in play. Short game was rusty. Got to get back on that. Greens were stupidly slow because they got a lot of rain yesterday and probably couldn't cut them down. Usually in the summer they are firm and pretty fast for how sloped they are. Got to work on face to path a bit.
    • We agree here. Top of the car has a forward force, bottom of the car experiences a backward force via the braking. Both about the COM (somewhere in between). Result is a rotational flip. Since the forward force is still higher the car probably still globally travels forward. Sure, pretty basic. You really think there are deliberate twist forces applied? Like forcing the club head forward and simultaneously forcing grip end in the opposite direction? Heck I don't think we even slow down the grip end deliberately let alone force it the other way. Sorry, if I am missing something here. The orientation change is simple incidental because there is different rate of global movement of grip vs. clubhead throughout the swing. I also happen to think the best swings have the least amount of differential movement between the two end in the impact zone.  In my defense, I never thought one could do justice in covering all aspects of a golf swing in a paragraphs or two to begin with. Especially not with grade school physics..😜 Okay.
