Well I have some money, and I was totally sure I wanted an R9 460, in replacement for my last teenager wilson club. It's a heavy, too much flex, uncomfortable 10.5 driver. I was talking to a friend that has had an iTouch for a while, and it's really impressive! The graphics processing is incredible for the games. But I don't have an iPod, because my last one got washed in the laundry. so which one should I buy? iPod to replace my mobile entertainment I currently have little of, or a new driver I know I can crush off the tee? Golf is really important to me, as you can tell. Thanks guys!

I've seen Ipods, Itouches, and PSPs on craigslist for around $100

I've seen used R9 460s go for around $150

Personally, I'd get the driver. Save a little more money and get a PSP or Itouch after the Holiday Season when you'll find a bunch of bargains on craigslist and ebay (people getting rid of their duplicate gifts and old stuff)

I have an iTouch, I have had a LOT of iPods. The problem with the iTouch is that is does not support GPS like the iPhone does. That means that none of the GPS based software for the iPhone does anything important on the iTouch. Even if they say they are iTouch compatible it will only do the none GPS functions of the software. As for the R9 460, I play an '07 Burner and the other day I was able to try the R9 460, the ball went to the same spot, no difference, nada. I think the Dual crown Burner that replaced mine would be the club to buy and would be cheaper. The R9 hosel technology is attractive but in truth we all would be better off learning to hit the ball, after all, the rest of our clubs do not have FCT so wouldn't it be better to develop a swing that works for the entire bag?

I don't think the Itouch can drive a golf ball very far. Better to get the driver.

Go with the R9. You can pick up an Itouch used for a great price or just find a good deal in general. You can use a normal Ipod for most of the Itouch can do.

I had an R9 460 for a month or so and couldn't wait to get rid of it.

I've had my 3Gs iPhone for a month now and can't figure out how I have lived without it!!!!! In fact, I'm using it to type this (and most of my thread responses). These units are awesome.

    • Day 133: did a stack session.
    • You can pre-order an R50 here for pretty rapid shipping (these are back-ordered almost everywhere): https://www.playbetter.com/products/garmin-approach-r50-golf-launch-monitor-simulator?ghref=2301%3A700794. This is an affiliate purchase, and I'm willing to kick back lifetime ad-free Supporter membership here on TST or a 90-minute GEARS session for the cost of a regular member lesson (about 1/3 the cost). Also, I'll record a video myself soon when I get an R50.
    • Day 58 - 2024-11-27 Some quick 90-yard shots on a particular hole… before a lesson and testing out multiple Foresight Launch Monitors on GSPro.
    • Day 209 (27 Nov 24) - Easy session with the LW - short pitches replicating greens side up and downs. Finished up with the 7i and hard foam balls - making 1/2 to 3/4 swings with deliberately slowed tempo…from varied lies.
    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
