eyeglasses and golf

This is the problem I've been having with my new glasses. They are smaller and are the type that don't have a frame on the bottom edge of the lenses. So when I'm looking down, my lower peripheral vision is blurry.

I went back to my old glasses today when I played and it was not a problem. I guess I'll just need to keep my old glasses in my golf bag.

It is interesting how people have different ideas on glasses or contacts. Over the past 5 years or so have found that I can not really wear contacts when playing sports and I think that this is due to a stigmatism in my one eye. It seems like my contact does not freely move with my eye causing me to have the feeling of taking my eye off the target. I hope to get Lasik in the future though my family is against it, we will see (no pun intended).

Golf - I can switch between eyeglasses and contacts, no problem. With sports where the ball moves, the loss of depth perception is too much with glasses and I totally misjudge where the ball is, so I use contacts. Way more practical too.

I play equally well with my glasses or contacts. Strangely, I don't like wearing sunglasses when I play.

If there's a chance of rain, I will always wear my contacts because my glasses don't have windshield wipers.

I might be crazy but, sometimes I think that I putt better with the glasses, because with my strong nearsightedness, if the hole is beyond the sightline of my frames, it's out of focus and the temptation to peek (at the hole) is almost non-existent.

I played in glasses until 2006 when I had Lasik. I never had a problem, but wished I would've had Lasik many years earlier. Simple, painless, fast procedure that was worth every penny and then some.

I wear contacts and sunglasses and I am considering either Lasik or prescription sunglass lenses...I live in Arizona so they are very practical..

I agree. I just started wearing glasses full time two years ago and mine have bifocals. I had been taking them off to play switching to regular sun glasses. The bifocals bothered me mainly when putting. In the second half of this season, I gave it go and started wearing my glasses when playing. The adjustment came quickly and it did not bother me at all. However, I think I'm going to get a pair of prescription sun glasses this spring without the bifocals. I think wearing the glasses has helped me read the greens a little better also.

my brother got lasik from the same dr that did tigers eyes... lol...
now my brothers vision is better than 20/20... i need some of that... but i am blind blind

If you're wearing glasses while golfing, blended lenses would be the most useful - don't have to worry about the bifocal effect. Also, a special pair just for golf might be good, depending on your correction factors.

I played with contacts during the 1990s, but had trouble on windy days in Oklahoma with sand wedge blasts and shots off of sandy stretches of turf. It's a pain to get grit under the lens, and then risk eye infection by fishing out the contact with dirty hands and cleaning it.

I once played in a scramble when my right contact lens popped out on the 14th hole. For the rest of the round, I really hammered my driver and 3-wood playing like a cyclops. Downside: My depth perception for chipping and putting was terrible.
