I was never a Tiger Fan. All of that time spent in the gym and practice tee to achieve perfection was compulsive and not fan making criteria. But NOW with a trail of women with equally perfect performance makes me envy and now I am a fan. When you are good because you work hard is one thing but when you are naturally good then that is something to be proud of.

That's not what he's saying. Not at all.

He's saying that if he is as good as he has been at golf while having all the extra-curricular activities, then that makes his golf skill/talent all the more impressive.

So. Are you saying you're more impressed because Eldrick was able to compete at the top while (apparently; at least you appear to assume as much) not working at his game as hard as you thought? i.e. you'd be equally impressed if, say, he spent his non-golf time fishing?

Or, are you now more impressed because (it appears) he has a long line (allegedly) of extra-marital conquests? If the former, well, fine. If the latter, then that's pretty sad. Oh, one more thing. I take issue with your comment that:
When you are good because you work hard is one thing but when you are naturally good then that is something to be proud of.

If you're naturally good at something, that's genetics. Wow, had to work at that didn't you? If you achieve excellence at anything through hard work, THAT'S something to be proud of.

Some people will probably become Tiger fans because they now see him as more human. Before, he seemed so perfect, which made it easy for people to dislike him. Now, with having all these extra marital activities, it makes him more on a level like the rest of us.
I also think a lot of people will root for him more now than in the past because everyone loves to see a hero fall and then come back. Just look at how many people still hope for Duval to do well, even though he wasnt won in years and shows little to make them believe that he is serious about returning to top form.

It's obvious that was his "tackeling fuel". I kinder, gentler Tiger might not be worth a crap...or he might be better. I vote for better.

This is why I've always admired John Daly. To win through skill, hard work and determination like Tiger is one thing... but for a man like John Daly to win just once without the hard work, now that's class!

Cheetah Woods......I was always impressed with his game....still am....he's an awesome player and will continue to be.

I've never looked to him for a role model and try my best to keep my son from doing it, too. It's hard for him not to admire such a dominant force and the main character of one of his favorite video games, etc. My son understands that Tiger has been a crappy husband and is acting very oddly. I truly feel that he's not looking to for Tiger to provide anything else other than entertainment. He's no spiriitual leader, no moral leader, just an exceptional athlete who's reached and held the top position in his field.....that is all.

My ten year old said it all last week....."It is a shame....because Tiger has been a poor husband his family will be broken up and it will be very hard for him to be a good father". I think the kid has learned something about consequences for our actions.

Maybe that's why this mess didn't phase my household too much.

It's a shame that Tiger didn't get all this sporting around out of his system prior to marriage. Perhaps he never intended to quit the lifestyle, anyway. He's certainly not the first to ever cave in to the temptation. I identify with his struggle and wish him the best. I suspect he has the will and determination to dig his way back into the trust of those he loves. He has some decisions to make. The traveling will always be there....how will he choose to handle it????

Hopefully he'll be honest with himself and not begin to live another lie. If he thinks Cheetah will return and isn't fully committed to his marraige then so be it. Let them part ways and try to be the best parents possible. Don't live a lie, though.

Thank you Iacas for explaining and also for understanding what I was trying to say. World's #1 with all the distractions is indication of how talented he is.

Like I tried to say with my lame "Waterboy" reference to Tackling Fuel...maybe all the excitement made him who he was??? I doubt it was a distraction but rather it was an ego stroke motivation...just my thoughts.

An interesting theory was proposed by a lawyer on Jim Rome today...allegedly TW is bartering with Rachel Uchitel ( for millions ....again allegedly) to keep quiet for some reason. The theory floated down the river is that she acted as a madam to set up working girls for Tiger....if there is a paper trail he could face charges for soliciting prostitiution if she had records to back it up....

This gives me hope, maybe I can leverage this with my wife. "Honey, I really want to improve my golf game, so we must have sex every night this winter so my game will be sharp in the spring!" I'm doomed to suck at golf the rest of my life.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
