I finally got an HD camera, and couldn't wait to get some people to analyze my swing! Give me any suggestions you have. These swings are a little reckless, but they didn't do too bad. I'll try and take another video when I'm actually playing golf, but these are just with practice balls.

Down The Line

Face On

I'll post some iron shots on here later, but the ground is far too wet today.

Merry Christmas!

really nice camera and really nice swing.
I like your swing path, the first move down from the top of your backswing is awesome, and extension at impact is great.

Due to your flexibility, you take the club pretty far back, and your right arm separates from your torso and the driver goes across the target line (points to the right). try to keep your right arm more attached to your torso at the top of the back swing.

take a look at Rory here at the top of his backswing. his right arm separates slightly, but his right arm is still pointing down at the ground at the top of the backswing.

At the top of your backswing, your right tricep is almost parallel to the ground (flying elbow) Overall, you have a great swing.

Actually, that's what I'm working on right now. I tend to get power-greedy and try and overswing a little. I'm trying to shorten my backswing just a tad so my body can remain connected. I keep connected much better with my irons, but not my driver.

i fully agree with a more connected swing. you get great extension at impact and post impact which is awesome. try to work on shortening up that swing, think more of a 3/4 backswing and the club will naturally go full. should get alot better control and some more power. keep swinging.

Looks good, work on your short game and forget about swing mechanics until your older. Very natural swing, I'm sure you hit it plenty far (and good) for your age. Work on the scoring clubs.

Good tips here, it looks like you might roll onto the outside of your right foot a bit at the top, however that may just be the ground your standing on. Thats just me being picky, otherwise you put a very good move on the ball. Like the previous poster said, I would work on scoring clubs, short game and putting.

Nice swing. You keep the club on a perfect swing plane. I have a simular high follow through. Not bad at all. Your also pretty young and have alot of Golf ahead of you. Im sure you will be taking your Pops money soon. I would like to see some range video, so we can see a ball flight and some iron shots. Good luck!

I'm going to give you a little advice. There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball.

Ball:

I went to the country club with my camera, and recorded a few swings. Here's one with a driver and an actual ball, but my feet were aimed far right, which I need to work on. (It's slowed to 1/2x)

I'm still getting my irons in. The iron shots I taped were really poor. I was in a rush to leave, so I recorded them quickly, and would rather not post them.

I personally think your OP videos were better. I don't know if it's the surface you are standing on in your irons shots but your lower body seems a bit off to me. IMO your feet are too close together for a 7 iron and I feel as though your bottom half isn't catching up to your top half. Where as in your initial driver video that looked ok to me.

Isn't Rory's backswing also parallel to the ground at 0:15?

Well honestly I'm not really worried about my driver swing. That's easy for me. What I'm worried about is my irons, which seem to not perform so well. Some pointers on the irons would be a huge help.

I agree with uttexas. Nice unrushed transistion into the downswing. This move alone will keep alot of flaws from creeping into your swing. I also like how you lead the backswing with the clubhead (slight wrist break to start takeaway). My preference is a sightly slower/smoother takeaway (helps with consistency and preventing overswinging), but don't change if you are happy with your tempo. Good work !!

    • Nothing exposes low point control, and for that matter the general quality of ball striking like tight lies. Lol! I am at a crossroad. My days of playing with a super strong left hand grip are coming to an end it seems. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to maintain proper face control through impact as the club face naturally wants to turn over. The quality of strike and ball flight difference when I weaken the grip is stark. Problem is a weaker grip is at odds with my poor sore left forearm which I have been nursing for last few days after 3 days of demanding golf. As of now I will continue my 'transition' to a weaker grip with woods and hopefully my forearm will condition as I go along. Maybe someday I'll get to a normal address with irons too.Β
