Seve Ballesteros has been told he needs no further treatment for the brain tumour that struck him down at the beginning of last year.He has delared he is now working on his fitness with a view of taking some part in The Open Championship at St Andrews in July.Just to see the master swinging a club again will be brilliant.

Im sure we all wish him a full and speedy recovery

He stated some months ago he wanted to say goodbye to professional golf at St. Andrews, it would be a great place for him. He always felt like playing at home when in the UK, so beloved there...

I like Seve a LOT more than Gary Player. I got the feeling Gary Player kept playing at August just so he could beat Arnie's record. It always seemed to me as if Gary Player has spent his whole career acting out his short man complex.

I'm glad for the good prognosis for Seve, and I hope he's able to make the cut. A Sunday walk over the Swilcan Bridge will be a lot cooler than one on Friday. If there's a course that suits him most it may be St. Andrews.

I think they both brought tremendous acheivements to the game. I feel that Gary contributed much, much more, though.

Seve was released fom hospital a couple of days ago after being kept in for observation following a fall from a golf cart will playing his local course in Spain.


Look Seve,were all behind you and looking forward to the Open but do us a favour , Keep off the Vino! (at least when in charge of a cart)

I am from the camp that believes Seve is a legend, and I think his contribution to the game, particularly in Europe and for European golf, greatly exceeds Player. I agree with Eric that Player is more driven by his own legacy to the game, such as it is.

However, realistically there is no chance of him playing golf in the event proper at St Andrews. It would be an astonishing achievement for him to EVEN play in the 4 hole Champions event, so I rather doubt he will manage that.
