After walking off the course at Torrey Pines shooting 79-71 to miss the cut, John Daly told Golf Channel cameras just a few moments ago that he was "done" with golf for good. Hopefully he's just pissed off after a bad showing. Anyone think Daly is actually done?

Frankly, I hope he is. No sense playing when you're playing the way he's playing. Maybe he stays away from the Tour and his game improves, and he comes back in a year. That's fine. But done with golf for now? I hope so.

He's quoted as saying "I just can't do it it anymore. I can't keep taking spots from guys out here playing this bad. I'm done... with golf. I can't compete."

Totally agree. I hope he is able to figure it out and see if he can do it next year, but right now he isn't getting it done.

Still.....I'd love to be able to shoot 79-71. Heck, I'd take 89-81....99-91!

I feel like we've heard this too many times from Daly to take it too seriously. He probably thought when he lost all that weight his game would magically re-appear and he's just annoyed at how he played.

But, if nothing else his scores should slow down those who think using the old Ping wedges is an unfair advantage.

Yeah, this could be the best golf news all year! I saw a little of Daly in person at Torrey on Monday, and he looked like he just didn't give a damn in his short game routine, and I saw the same in some of the video highlights through today.

I just re-read one of David Feherty's stories last night talking about his experiences working with wounded soldiers and their positive attitude putting their life together and learning to play golf despite missing one or multiple limbs. To then look at Daly and see all of the amazing talents and gifts he has been given and how he has totally squandered all of his amazing talent, it is an astounding study in contrasts. To me, Daly doesn't deserve one moment of our sympathy or concern. Let him disappear from the golf press, and let us hear of interesting and inspiring golf stories that we can enjoy and make us proud of our sport instead of dwelling on someone's self-created misery.

honestly, i don't think i could care less about daly's problems. these million dollar crybabies annoy me to no end. they whine and complain about how their lives are so bad and they're so misunderstood. anyone with a million bucks in the bank for playing a sport forfeits his right to my sympathy on matters which he has the ability to control. let him go back to arkansas, open up a driving range and teach people how to hit the ball 300 yards.

I was a big Daly supporter on this forum. Quite frankly he has become "real serious" and REALLY BORING. Maybe he doesn't realize losing 110 pounds is going to affect things... I wish him well. PS. I love the "I wish Tiger would call me BS...now you quit???" Yeaterday he was backslapping with Finchem...now he's tapping out.....F'ing DRAMA QUEEN...sorry you got it so hard.
