Here is my problem......I love golf and happen to be BALD. I need advice on head wear. South Texas summers cause me to sweat and with no hair to absorb the sweat I constantly ruin all head wear. I love wearing baseball caps but hate the tan line around the back of my head. I put on sunscreen but that does not help much. I have tried bucket hats, which I like but that does not solve the sweat problem. Is there a beanie type product I could wear under my hat to absorb sweat. Does anyone have suggestions from things they have tried. Not the worst problem to have but I could sure use some advice. I currently buy 2 of every hat, one for the round, and one for before and after. Being a head sweater and bald sucks!!!!!!!!!

I'm bald by choice (shaved) and use sun screen in the summer to prevent the tan-line. I guess I'm not much help...I guess looking at your problem, I'd go with a sweat ban under the bucket hat.

Try the beanie's that are made by companies like under armour. They whisk away the sweat without cooking your brain! and they fit tight enough that you can still wear a bucket or any other type of hat. And come in a variety of colors. Try it out. Good luck.

+1 on the Under Armour "skull" cap... I have worn one under my hockey helmet, works great for keeping sweat out of your eyes... One of those with a large bucket hat should work well.

I am also bald (shaved actually). My only thing is that I only wear fitted hats. The tan line isn't ideal, but I can live with it. Most of the time I will put on a little sunscreen and go without a hat for a few holes when the sun is behind me to try and even out the tan. That works pretty good, but keeps me sweating. I have never tried the skull cap, but I don't mind the sweat on the hat. I am not real comfortable in the bigger Greg Norman hats, and my face gets burned if I wear a bucket hat so I stick with the regular baseball hat.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

When I rode a sport bike I used to wear this modified bandana under my helmet. You would have the knot in the back to deal with but that could aid in keeping the sun off the back of your neck. Who knows, you could start a new fad.

Just a thought...

If you want something to wear under your hat I'd look for a "Headsweats" or similar item (probably similar to the UA stuff others have mentioned). Check out a cycling store - some good choices for cyclists to wear under their helmets.

To the OP...if the main problem with wearing the baseball style hat is ruining the headwear...I share the same issue and this summer after playing...the hat would be thoroughly soaked with sweat, brim saturated. I briefly soaked the hat under cold water for 10-15 seconds to rinse the sweat and then let the hat drip dry in the shower making sure it hung on the shower head in the correct formation. I rotate 5-6 hats I got this year and they all look great. They've all retained 85-90% of their original color. I even bought a white Titleist logo hat with green stitching and my girlfriend offered to soak it in vinegar to keep the color from running....worked like a charm.

Add another recommendation for the UnderArmor beanie beneath whatever hat/cap you wear. I wear one under my motorcycle helmet to keep the sweat under control. It'll soak with sweat, but if you take it off once in a while, wring it out and give it a few shakes it will dry out quickly.

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
