Alright so i was able to use my friends phone today to get some videos of my swing. The videos aren't the best quality but its better than nothing i guess. I've realized recently that my swing was very steep so today i was trying to bring the club more across and not just straight up, and i was actually hitting a lot better then usual. I was making more solid contact and going more through the ball then down into it. Although im sure theres a ton of things wrong with my swing the one thing i know felt wrong was at the top of my backswing, something just didn't feel right. One of these videos is with my hybrid and the other with my 7 iron. I have never had lessons or anything so I'm sure theres a lot of shit wrong lol but any help is GREATLY appreciated! let me have it!

Thanks!!!!

first thing I noticed, you bring the club inside, then lift the club up during the backswing. Then during the forward swing, your swing plane is steeper than in the backswing. During the backswing, your front shoulder should rotate more down than around. Your head moves up a lot during the backswing, then down during the forward swing. Please post a face on view so we can look at weight transfer, etc. Your balance looks good at finish.

There are several successful ways to swing a golf club (one plane vs two plane swing), but almost all successful golfers have a forward swing where the club shaft swings between the shoulder and elbow on the forward swing (when looking down the line view) In your forward swing, the club shaft swings between your shoulder and head.

Here Anthony Kim swings back and through "on plane"

I know there are many here more qualified than I to comment, but the 1st thing I notice is the excess movement in your spine angle (sort of an up and down move). That could cause some inconsistencies.

I noticed that too.

I used to have the opposite problem I was sitting down and then pushing up a small amount. The video quality isn't great and I can't do it frame by frame, once you reach the top of the swing it skips to you finishing.

uttexas- are you saying i need to bring the club more across in my back/forwards swing? and keep my head and rest of the body more steady?

I think he's saying your bringing the club up too steeply and that means your down-swing is too steep as well.

This is the first thing i noticed. You also have a lot of lifting of you arms at the tops, that is why your right elbow is so far away from your body. A front view would be helpful, you can't really see hip action from the back.

Bring the club away lower.

You do a strange loop too. Might want to get a lesson to sort it out....

Stick a golf glove in your right armpit, and swing without it coming out until the follow through, if at all.

One way to swing the club less steep---during the backswing, rotate your front shoulder down (not around), your arms swing in, not up, when your right elbow reaches your torso, keep it there. The rest of your backswing will be a turning of your hips and body. Then during the forward swing, keep your right elbow on your torso. The first move on the forward swing is to slide the hips forward. To combat my tendancy to separate my right arm from my torso, the first move on the forward swing with my arms is down with my shoulders (not around) Throughout the swing, try to keep the distance between your forearms the same (stay connected) All the above sounds complicated, and it might feel complicated initially.

Watch Matt Kuchar in the swing video below--you probably won't be able to swing as flat as he does, but it's the image I use to try to swing on one plane.

Ben Hogan had some similar moves

You've gotten plenty of good advice, work on one thing at a time and have fun. How long you been playing?

Do not start worrying about sliding hips, or thrusting this, or lagging that, you need to fix the loop first. You cannot hope to hit it as well as you should, because the toe of the club is ramming into the ground. I did it for 20 years, and trust me, it never felt right. Even your best shots will feel like there's a lot of friction when the club hits the ground.

You need to fix that first and foremost. Because that feels normal to you, you need to relearn normal. You must bring the club back steep, and swing it through flat. You must feel like you're swinging like Jim Furyk, because what feels normal to you is quite the opposite:

You need to emulate this, the feel of taking it back incredibly steep, and bringing it down incredibly flat. No matter how steep you feel you're going back, or how flat you feel you're coming down, keep doing it. It will literally feel like you're doing a Furyk move, but you won't be. When you film what feels like a huge loop, it will probably still be flat/steep. That's normal, it takes time to fix this.

Fix that reverse loop, and you can start to work on the other problems.
