So i finally picked up a Scotty... Ive been gaming a Ping Piper H for a while now and love that thing, but was messing around at a local golf shop waiting while a buddy was being fitted, and started putting with a used monochromatic blue SD1.5 that was laying in the rack. putting across the floor at about 15 feet, I drained the 10th putt in a row before picking it up to look at the price - $200. well, I had a gift card worth $100, so I figured Id check with the salesman and find out what the story was... $117 later Im holding the putter with a matching headcover, oilrag, etc... Couldnt give that guy enough thanks for the hookup!

So on to customizing... I love the oversize (jumbo) Lamkin grip on my Piper, keeps my wrists honest, but I cant find anything larger than a midsize in the Cameron grips. I also know that the purists frown on any non-SC mods. Im not against putting a non-SC grip on this putter if I have to, but wouldnt mind being able to have it correct. recommendations?

Thanks!

Go with what works for you. Make it suitable to your style and roll the rock. Welcome to the club! I sent my first SC (squareback 1) to the shop for weights and customization. But the others I made the adjustments locally.

You bought it because you were draining 15' putts with it. Maybe the stock grip is just fine.

Most of Scotty's line are made with the inent for them to open and close during the stroke..toe flow.

A jumbo grip and square elbows is counterintuitive...

This is not a "straight-back-straight-through" putter line..for the most part.
Buy yourself a face balanced mallet if
that is your stroke.

i seem to drain every putt when i am in retail stores - not knocking your skill but do you think that it could be possible that the in-store greens could be sloped a bit to make the ball go in?

*flips hair*... honey please, of course i've got my louis handbag. don't leave home without it. seriously though, i used to live down the street from a louis vuitton store when i was living in lyon. plus, i'm a fanatic about correct spelling. if there's a word i don't know how to spell, i look it up.

yeah I hear you, and I dont disagree about the floors, always cleaner/flatter/etc than a real green. but nonetheless it felt great and the ball went exactly where I told it to. as a followup, I spent about 20 mins on the putting green at a course near the office this morning (early meeting was cancelled). although I froze my ever-lovin tail off, the 35-40 putts I hit were more-or-less as clean and true as in the store, from 5 ft out to 20 or so. Im going to follow Dub's advice for a bit and leave the stock grip for a while and get some rounds in, as I need to get past the honeymoon phase with it and see if I can be more consistent with it than my current Ping.

    • Day 87 (27 Jul 25) - Made it an easy session with the wedge this afternoon, worked on staying in the shot and not lifting out - split between low spinners and higher floaters.
    • Shot my new low 72 (par 70) today. Had 5 birdies, also a new best, which included a hole out from the bunker on par 3 6th, and another hole out pitch from 15ish yards on the long par 4, 15th.  Got a couple of other good breaks. Except for an OB drive on 14th (and ensuing double bogey), not much went wrong. All in all I might have used up a year's worth of luck in a single day.
    • Back in the saddle after vacation.  Day 1: played 18. Did not have it, but still battled to an 82. Felt closer to a 90, but that’s fine.
    • Yes, I have seen this from the older crowd that play the 4,700 yard tees and want to know why they get less strokes from there. Always trying to game the system 🤣
    • Day 300 - 2025-07-27 Good 44-ball segment. GSPro was acting goofy, so I just put it on the Quad. Then I hit a bunch of low spinners. Hit 14° down to 9.8° down, with the average closer to 12.3° or so. Focused mostly on the backswing. Right knee good, hands roll up and out a little before laying off (FAR).
