Hello,

I have R300s on my Mizuno MP-62s and my golf pro tells me I need to upgrade them as my swing speed is too high - I can feel them bending quite a lot on my downswing. Unfortunately, I can't afford a fitting session right now - I can only afford the clubs if I buy them online and send my clubs away to be fitted and returned to me.

I've found a good deal on some TT Black Gold shafts, but I'm not sure if I should just go up to stiff or make the leap to x-stiff for future-proofness. I've tried the stiff Black Gold shafts and they feel nice, although I noticed in my finishing position the shaft is still oscillating a bit (is that a sign that they are a bit soft, or is it a characteristic of this shaft?). I don't want to have to change shafts again for some time and my R300's have only lasted me about 4 months. I got a swing speed reading during my lesson today of 95mph with a 7 iron - is there a general rule-of-thumb mapping swing speed to shaft flex?

Also, has anyone tried MP62s with the TT Black Gold shafts? I read somewhere that Mizuno don't offer them as an option, is that for a particular reason?

Thanks for your time,

-Ross

Many golf stores have monitors and with the help of an experienced person, they can direct you to the right flex and answer your questions without charge. Do more research before making the change.
