Driver 230
3w 210
4H 200
5i 170
6i 160
7i 150
8i 135
9i 125
pw 110
52* 95
56* 85
60* 65
All of these distances are approximate, and I don't hit my 3w off of the ground... it never works out good for me. I'm considering adding a 2 or 3 hybrid, and a 5 hybrid, and dropping my 5i. Thoughts?

Pretty neat. My distances are pretty much exactly the same. I dont carry a 60 degree tho. I am also thinking about getting a 19 degree hybrid. I dont hit my 3 wood very well, so the 19 degree could come in handy.

i wouldn't drop your 5 iron because you'll have a pretty good gap between 6i and 5h. the only gap that is a problem is the 4h to 5i. if i were you i would add a 3h because you'll be able to hit it off the deck and get some good distance since you can't hit the 3w. if you're hitting the 4h 200 you should have no problem hitting the 3h 210 so might as well drop the 3 wood. then add a 4 iron to fill the gap between 4h and 5i.

My distance gaps are similar... but I have a range of yardage for each club because I'm not consistent enough yet to nail down a yardage:

Driver = 240
3 Wood (Tee) = 225
3 Wood (Deck) = 215
3h = 185 - 195
4h = 175 - 185
5i = 165 - 175
6i = 155 - 165
7i = 140 - 150
8i = 130 - 140
9i = 120 - 130
PW = 100 - 115
SW = 60 - 80

My biggest issue is between 80 and 100 yards... but I've worked on a knocked down pitching wedge that has been leaving me within 10 feet.

Fairway...you have room for one more club. add a wedge somewhere in the 50-52 degree range to fill the gap between pw and sw. bag in the day, sw and pw used to be closer in loft. as people sought more distance, club manufacturers decreased the loft of irons creating a gap between pw and sw. thus, the "gap" wedge was created to fill the void.

    • Context:  I am on vacation, so I don't have access to my indoor practice room, and I won't for about a month. Day 12 (August 22).  Today's weather was not one where even I was going to be outside.  For whatever reason, I didn't do the putting drill today.  There was a drill I remembered from this site (the article was something akin to "five things you can do to improve that don't require talent") that involved having an iron along the back from stance, moving to backswing and holding, then moving to forward swing and holding.  So I did that for five minutes today. I also spent 90 minutes at the gym;  my main motivation for getting stronger is golf related (and I really should get back to Fit For Golf  specific workouts;  I'm not sure when I lost that habit, a poor choice on my part that I did).  Funny story, I spent 20 minutes on the Stairmaster today at the gym (the rest was weights and rests), a device I started with shortly after I took up golf because I read something about it in a Butch Harmon book.  I should be following FFG Mike's fitness advice though, not some memory of someone else.
    • Day 8 8-22 Worked on backswing length and getting some speed in backswing. Recorded swings. Was happy with practice session tonight.
    • Day 325 - 2025-08-22 Practiced for almost an hour after cleaning my cabinets to account for the new GEARS cameras and helping @OBlum for a bit. Exaggerating the same old things.
    • Yea, faster greens = shorter putting stroke. You can be more accurate.  Really, I think people who struggle with distance control struggle just as much on slow greens as fast greens. I've seen people blast putts 10-FT past the hole on 8 or 9 STIMP as much as 11-12 STIMP.  I prefer faster greens. Usually means the putting surface is better and again, shorter putting stroke.
