So it looks like we should retitle this thread simply as "Golf"

I broke 90 for the first time in January and have been staying under 100 since even when I feel like I have not played well.

Last weekend in the second round of a club comp...out in 46, good...home in 58...bad. I was so annoyed with myself that I lost my swing and my temper. How do you break 100 with 32 putts? I don't know but apparently I have the talent!

i know exactly what you mean...thats what i did today...just stopped counting tho. come to find out i was dropping my back shoulder and not keeping my chest down on the ball. it should have been so obvious. for the last 3 or 4 rounds i have been golfing worse than i have in years, but now i think i can get back down to my normal 81ish scores. i dont even want to know what i shot today haha.

Yep, I went back to the old chicken wing and blew up a round today. It was a spur of the moment round after work, so I wasn't dressed for golf, had on my work shoes, so I didn't expect to shoot spectacular, but having a restrictive shirt on kept me from ever getting comfortable, so I went back to old bad habits.

I've just recently begun playing REGULARLY again. I'm using the Scorecard software to track my rounds....

In the last month I've been consistently between 82-86 with two 88's and one 93.
I remember being a little bit HUNG OVER for the 93, and then a couple weeks later, after another session the night before, ended up tearing up the card on the 7th.

Nowadays, I'm 'not drinking' if I've got an early tee time the next day!!
Seems to be working.... :)

I am absolutely useless if I've had a drink the night before - I don't know how some guys drink during their round and don't fall to pieces! Tiredness, dehydration, lack of concentration, red mist - you name it, it gets worse with a hangover!

Welcome to golf ... the four letter word Isn't it a great game? Honestly, I think we have all had these types of rounds. There are so many variables that go into how you play on any given day. Some aspects you have control over and others you don't (Mother Nature). Although I should have figured this out sooner, it finally hit me that when playing a round in the morning it is (a) a good idea to eat a good breakfast beforehand and (b) it's not a good idea to have 2 cups of coffee instead

Keep at it ... that index is bound to come down over time!

I think we all have this problem.

But if you only get to play once a week, its to be expected. You notice the bad rounds even more because you have a whole week to sit and stew on it!

Last year, before I got injured and lost my whole season, I had a situation like this. I shot an 88, breaking 90 for the first time. I was stoked. The next game a day later, I shot 86. I was on cloud 9, seemed like my swing and my game were finally coming together. I had worked on them all winter. Then, me and 3 friends had our regular tuesday evening round the next day. I shot 113. I was crushed. Couldnt believe it had happened. Told the pro in our shop, and he simply said 'If you dont want the odd bad day, quit golf now' and laughed. I played 7 more rounds before I got injured, and the ranged from 88-96, except my last round, which was a 104.

Thats golf I guess.

    • Day 354: shitty, busy week so far. Only had time for a bit mirror work - working on the same things.
    • IDK, a full turn. That is what it's feeling like. When I shallow the club, it ends where It ends. Should I crank the torso more around?  I'll check a face-on to make sure, but it's not like I am trying to make partial backswings.  The day has finally come, when I am getting comments on not making a long enough backswing. 🤣 too much of what?  Here is my typically routine.... 1) I usually start out just doing position work. The backswing stuff we work on. Turn to A2.5-ish, shallow to A4, pause, arms down to A6. Then, slight pump drill and hit the ball.  2) I do some pause at A4 and arms down and try to hit ball from A4 instead of A6.  3) I do some full swing stuff, trying to blend it all together. Checking video to see if I am actually keeping the club shallow or not. If not, then I go back to trying to train the downswing with the stuff we worked on. I try to blend it all together again, and check video.  What am I missing here? I do the stuff we worked on. I'll keep it at, it's all I can do. Just hope it changes.  Sorry for trying to find a feel that keeps the club shallow..
