Alex Prugh off to a nice start, despite a double bogey on 21. Anthony Kim in good position through 36.

And Rickie Fowler plays his par-5s in three over on Friday. Man, I had high hopes for this kid, but that's not how to play par-5s on TOUR.

My goodness, if he (and/or Phil) ever start hitting fairways, it's all over. If I hit as few fairways as those two, I don't know if I'd break 100.

Kim is a hell of a player, and one of my favourites to watch. You can tell he's having fun out there, and even though he's ahving a hard time hitting fairways, he's playing strong everywhere else. I hope he can win it tomorrow.

AK is some kind of creative player ... I'm sitting here watching him hit it hole high in two on a 605 yard par five -- into the wind, but unfortunately into the left bunker. He hit a driver off the deck for his second, from 293 yards. Who am I to question his great game, but I think a birdie would have been more likely with a 3 wood layup, but he is fun to watch.

AK stepped up to his par putt on 18 in regulation way too quickly. The swagger he displayed throughout the week was a joy to watch, but you have to make those testers count.

Nice win for Kim. He played well, he was creative, and his driver off the deck ended up in the bunker, but he played awesome out of the sand all week.

His putt for par was pitiful. I dont know what he was aiming at, or why he went at it so quickly, but he pulled out the win anyway. Nice to see a fellow canuck in 3rd too.

Scrambling is important at the Masters. Even with the changes, Augusta National isn't a demanding driver's course. AK is in good shape if he can extend this kind of play into next week.

The driver off the deck was one of about 3 shots I saw this tournament. Exciting stuff. Johnny Miller (I believe) seemed none-too-impressed with the strategy, but IMO it was a decent call. It didn't look like there was a whole lot of trouble out there aside from the bunkers, and while it may be true that a standard 3W + approach is more likely to lead to a birdie, it's also less likely to lead to the eagle, so hey, isn't this the aggressive play that was lamented as being absent in one of the other threads floating around here? I think he was sure he could at least eke out a par, so why not go for the glory?

I started the thread about all the players laying up. AK shot that to ribbons. Good aggressive play on his part to win. I was pulling for him down the stretch.

Does anyone know which tee Graham Delaet started at on Friday? He bogeyed #18, but played the front 9 without a bogey. He also played the weekend without a bogey. I'm just curious if this guy played 36 or 45 without a bogey. Either way, super impressive!

Also, Charl Schwartzel finished one shot out of the playoff, but bogeyed the first par-5 twice, and never birdied it. Looking at AK and Taylor, I guess it wasn't the biggest scoring opportunity for the field. Delaet birdied it 3 out of 4 times, though.

    • So far only -5 but... I've Birdied 2 of the 4 holes I wasn't able to last year.  Hopefully will Birdie all 18 this year, maybe an Eagle or 2!
    • Titleist TSR1 or TSi1.  Both have adjustable hosels. edit:  Forgot to mention the GT1.
    • I've been really absent all things golf since September but have been getting the bug lately.  Today in SE Michigan we have our first thaw of the year.  It is Sunny and 53 degrees and boy do I want to get on a golf course!  Spring is around the corner 🙂
    • I assume you are posting 15 or 16 holes and letting the USGA algorithm insert projected scores for the missing holes. How is that going? Are the projected scores reasonable? I have yet to do this.
    • You're right. I haven't really had an issue with this before, but it's definitely worth closing the legs a bit to see what happens. I've had 2 of these and never had this problem before. About 5 years of use between the 2. It's really odd. Yeah, I've always had a bit of inconsistency and misreads, but this is a new level. I did a baseline session last night, and all my of stack speeds had decreased by roughly 5-10 mph (with me throwing out the obvious garbage readings). Weirdly, the driver speed actually seemed to be right where I expected it. I guess maybe it's having trouble with the smaller head of the stack vs. a driver? Whatever it is, I think it's time for me to go with the stack radar.
