What are the odds of a '12' shooting 76 twice from the tips in the same week.

Look up the odds. The

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Unless this is someone returning to golf after a long layoof or an injury it is very unlikely. I an a 14 and I have broken 80 just once this summer. That round included a sand save birdie on a par 3 and 9 iron from 110 yards for eagle on a par 5, probably my best shot of the year and my second or third best round in 20 years of playing. I am not sure I can tell the odds of two consecutive rounds this low using the chart, but this guy is probably no worse than an 8. In tournaments I have only shot my handicap or better three times, only once by more than a couple of strokes.

Interesting chart, although my 75 equals my cap on my course...just funny that my best round in the last three weeks are two 75's both in tournaments...(we won't mention the 76, 80, 81, 88 though...lol 3 of my last 6 tournament round are ok, the other 3 uck!!!)

Wish you could even things out with guys like that... you wanna play a friendly game with a small wager to make it interesting, then play straight up i say... when we play tournaments, the handicapping in for flighting only..I have to say it this way... would you rather finish 50th in a PGA tour event, or make the top 25 on the Nationwide? No disrespect, the guys on the Nationwide are amazing golfer's in their own right, but I'd want to test my skills week in and week out with the big boys... just my thought...

i hate people who do this. i play mainly on a college course and as a single get paired up with guys who will play out a hole and hit it 8 or 9 times then at the end say that was a great bogey. i even played a tourney where one guy said he was a 8 handicap. he was put into my foursome as one of the better players. My dad (27 handicap), another guy (legit 4) and I (19) carried the guy for the entire round while listening to the guy while he complained of an off day. my next time out i called him, and he magically shot another 125 and couldn't for the life of him figure out why. i just laughed most of the round and kept playing.

no offense to the state of oklahoma in this story but you have to know the guy. One guy in my dad's playing group is a huge oklahoma pride guy. he will constantly fudge his score on every hole. he has had times where he wouldn't even putt the ball down for a legit double or triple and tell us that he had a par. well, now we officially call a double an oklahoma par. it irks him all the time but he deserves it after constantly talking up oklahoma football while living in the state of texas playing with aggies and horns.

just a few thoughts but yeah unless they are just learning and need some mercy, i hate people who lie about their scores. especially when i'm playing a round of the lifetime and he gets in a has a score 10 strokes better than me when i finished every hole before the other guy.

Next time you play with him, you might ask him why the prevailing wind always blows from the southwest to northeast in Texas??? Because Oklahoma sucks!!! Old joke from when I lived in Texas.

    • Hmm... didn't know that. Good to know.
    • Yes, please, because if you said it was 20" but should be 10", that's a 10" error, but if it was 2" and 1", that's a one-inch error. Which is why… there is a different process for shorter putts (inside of about 6-8'). You don't really use your fingers anymore there. I misspoke when I said that you use the low edge of the hole. That's the old way. In reality, you don't use your fingers at all inside of whatever your crossover point is. That's not what he was doing there, no. He was just trying to see the slopes and tilts, not actually measuring distances and holding up fingers. His fingers were on the green. :D
    • This is the concept I wanted to be noticed. I can recheck the numbers to make them more accurate.  The closer you get to the hole, the more the height of the player affect the reading of the putt and the system starts to diverge from reality. Aiming to the low part of the hole in short putts is a way to patch the method so that it gets closer to reality. Only using it at ball heigth, as camilo villegas used to read lines, is going to give you the exact distance away from the hole to aim at.
    • I stepped off 10' from a wall electrical outlet this morning when I read it and held up two AimPoint fingers at about stimp 10… and got a little over 8" (because I was 10' and not 9').
