im a plumber and we were at some cottage doing a job and in the corner there was this old golf club. it had a dial that you can loosen and slots where there was the number of the club. you loosen it and turn the face to whatever iron the slot says and then you tighten it back up. who needs 8 irons? why not just one haha. it must feel like hitting boulders when you hit the ball with that thing. anyone ever seen one of these? its the only time i ever have.

Sounds like the old "Super Stick" club.

These are all over eBay - the co.uk eBay anyway. They look so gimmicky and terrible. imagine having the same length shaft for all 8 irons!

Actually clubs with one shaft length are really manufactured and sold. The person having started the business is convinced about his idea. All clubs have the length of 8 iron and the lie of club heads has been adjusted accordingly.

Never tried them but would like to.

Yeh i think i have heard of this. Though the lie wouldnt change i don't think, if all the shafts were the same length.

Some of the Super Stick clubs are apparently length adjustable. Also, the single length irons, there's another company that makes them, Henry Griffitts I believe. Actually, I'd love to get some Henry Griffitts fairway woods, as they offer them in upright lies, but they only sell clubs through PGA professionals, and you have to go through a whole lesson and clubfitting... How stupid is that? Not a great business model.

I remember them from way back in the 80's. Didn't know they were still around.

Well, the lie has to be altered, otherwise 4 iron shots would be like chipping with the toe of the club...

Years ago, I saw a club like this in an inflight "mall" magazine---looked gimmicky, heavy, and not very playable.

    • Since 99% of my tv watching is YouTube videos so is my golf watching. Seems to be mostly British stuff.
    • When I got to Florida this season (seasons instead of years since the years overlap) one of the guys asked what I had done, said I was about twenty yards longer with my driver. Said that I had a different driver which was true but looking back it’s really the shaft that’s been the difference. It’s similar in principle to the Autoflex in that it’s light weight and also light flex. Since most of my clubs are bought used I have difficulty finding senior shafts most of the time and being old and slow that’s what I need. Bought the Callaway driver, for several years I preferred Ping drivers, because they only had a couple of used drivers with senior shafts in my price range and it’s been probably the best I’ve had. Longer and very forgiving, decent distance even on my mishits and almost always in play. Keep in mind that my swing speed is probably under 70mph.
    • Day 17 - First round of the year. It took me about 6 holes to remember how to hit off grass. Short game was lacking, but the round could’ve been much worse. It’s nice that my new “bad” is my old “good.”
