If you check my signature you'll notice i have four wedges, 3-9 iron 3 wood and driver. I have trouble hitting longer par 3s i can push out a 3 iron but sometimes screw up, slow down with the 3 wood but it throws off my tempo a little bit. I want a way to fit a hybrid in there but i need to know what to get rid of to put it in there. I was thinking replacing my 52 56 and 60 with a 54 and 58 wedge and get a 3 iron hybrid? but idk thanks in advance guys

If you don't mind a gap you could go with a 2 hybrid instead of the 3 iron. I hit my 2h about 5 -10 yards father than my 3 iron (and am more consistent) so there is some gap between 2h and 4i but at the same time it closes some of my gap I had between the 3w and 3i. Just a thought.

You could replace the 3i with a 3h and keep your wedges, or add a 5w/2h and use a 54/60 wedge setup (or 52/58, 54/58, whatever suits you) which is what I do. It works for me. PS, you have a nice bag, a 909 hybrid would be a great addition.

I vote for the 5w 52/58 idea. 5 woods are easy to hit off the tee and nice and high, you'll like it on those long par 3's.

You almost have the same set as I do, I would suggest getting a 1/2/3 hybrid which ever fits best in the gap

I guess the question is:

How many times do you find yourself in the situation with the 3-wood / 3-iron dilemma compared to hitting a half wedge or having to smash a 56 when you really want a 52 etc...

My course is relatively short and I give it a good crack so I can use a 48 deg wedge or less on almost all the par 4's and 5's for my approach shots, hence i carry 4 wedges and just live with 5-wood / 4-iron gap for the very rare occasion I need to.

I took a look at the specs on the AP2 irons. Here are the degree gaps:
* 7i = 33º
* 6i = 29º
* 5i = 26º
* 4i = 23º
* 3i = 20º

One reason you may be having a yardage fall-off is that your three longest irons only have 3º difference in loft, vs. 4º for the rest of your set. Consider this:
Dump your 4i, and bend your 5i one degree stronger. That will leave 5º difference between 3i and 5i.
Then, try a 5W, or maybe a 2H or 3H, or a TM Raylor 19º. If you like your current wedge mix, you get to keep it and fix the yardage gap in the longer clubs.

Here's an idea. The modern 3 hybrid is stronger than most people need, it's really more of a cross between a 5 wood and a 3 iron. I'd say, do one of two things.

First, you could get rid of the 3 iron, and replace it with a hybrid.

So, your bag would go:
Driver: 909D2
3-Wood: 909F2
Hybrid: 19° (909H I assume, whatever goes here)
Iron: AP2 4-PW
Wedges: Vokey 52, 56, 60
Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport 2.6 35"

And you'd have a pretty good gapping. Now, whatever the story, here's the thing; You now have 15.5°, 19°, and 23° clubs, that's nearly a perfect 4° gap between each loft. There's nothing wrong with that.

The second option, is to go 3, 5, and 7 wood, and drop the 3 and 4 irons. The 7 wood is pretty much in between those two.

that's a pretty good idea but on windy day's you'll be in trouble, I take out a 4i for windy days.

In any case, try out clubs before you buy them. 4º difference in loft is no guarantee you'll get 10 yards difference between two clubs. Within an iron set it's fine, but when you mix irons, hybrids and woods, you can get different lengths. It's about distance difference, not loft difference.

haha thats exactly what i was thinking thanks :) Im good at toning down my wedges for the comments regarding yardage gaps in wedges. I can take a PW and tone down if i really need to and i know how to hit certain yardages, so 3 wedges would be pretty good for me, and with the hybrid i can be better off hitting longer par 3s, i want to keep the 3 iron because i can hit it solid and straight, just not push it an extra 10 yards. Im pretty sure im gonna get the 909h 3 hybrid maybe 2 hybrid idk and change my wedge set up a little bit, i just need the money lol
